Actually no he didn't, he never was making $30m/yr LOL. Demar took a reasonable pay cut to stay here and didn't even consider other offers from teams like the Lakers who were prepared to offer the max. He also could have taken a shorter deal so he could sign bigger in the new TV deal but he didn't. John Wall is nearly making twice what Demar is.

I don't blame DeMar. Crazy how messed up some people are behind a computer screen. There should really be a study on it....

People say there is no loyalty in the game, but why did Pg not go to the lakers after he begged them to trade for ? What did he say when resigned with OKC ? This might hurt the raptor in the long run now that demar is speaking on it. Your word means everything when trying to convince free agents to sign with you.

Which free agents have signed here prior to this?

I'm pretty sure guys would rather play with Kawhi than they would with DeMar.

The Spurs got Aldridge, Pau Gasol, and Rudy Gay, we got.... Ibaka and CJ Miles?

Not saying these are a direct result of either guy, but I'm willing to bet if Kawhi re-signs here and is back to his prime self we'd get a lot more interested players due to the calibre of player he is. Kawhi is a bonafide top two-way player in the league, DeMar is mostly a glorified scorer.
so why would kawhi sign here long term and move his family here when looking at demar's situation ? Why you think a lot of these ex raptor saying what they're saying ? "They did my man wrong" you're fooling yourself if you think players don't pay attention to loyalty. That's part of why kobe is the king of LA! A lot of great players played for the lakers but loyalty is a big party of his legacy there.. He was a great player to everybody but the loyalty in their relationship plays a big part in his status there as why he still working for them. Don't get me wrong demar needed to so go! I've said countless times that both him and lowry needs to go. The issue is they should have never resigned him to that max deal, he should have been moved before that and there wouldn't be any talk of loyalty.

weird, because Kawhi isn't exactly the model of loyalty but given the chance 31 other teams would still pick up him if he is willing to play for them.

I rather have a professional relationship where if a player understands what he does is provide a service for a fee. When you have external factors like "loyalty" and "brotherhood" and "i love demar like a son" is when the expectations get muddled and you end up with **** effort.

this place has the worst raptor "fans"

sorry how much did Korver and JR make?

'he left a few million for us". Yeah the Raptor fans are terrible, it took 3 sweeps in 4 years for this finally to happen.

Enjoy it ****

Maybe we should of put a team around him instead of a 33 year old Lowry?

But yeah it's DD's fault.

Korver and JR are not All NBA All Stars...

way to prove my point. The 27 million dollar man was outplayed by 2 non-allstars big time. So much so that Derozan got ejected in his last game as a Raptor in humiliating fashion.

Yeah build around Lowry, basically you wouldn't get much back for a 33 year old Lowry. But DD is a 27 so we got Leonard for him

You can't cheap shot someone in the playoffs then get all pissy when you get traded.

That was a low move by DD and set this organization back many years whether you like it or not. I would have been surprised to see DD back in a uniform after that.

The last sentence should have been left out. Unless he thinks it's a forgone conclusion that Kawhi won't resign or even report.

Why the hell should it be left out? we are LITERALLY giving him away for nothing.

If this doesn't work out, we are left empty handed with an aging Lowry who will be hard to move and short a promising young C in Poeltl for rebuilding.

these guys on here think players don't watch loyalty. A lot of these guys can get the money either way. Loyalty comes into play, espically if you have to move your wife and kids to a new city. They should have never signed him to a max. The man didn't just get traded, he got traded for a possible rental.

I feel sorry for him.

But, after how many years of asking him to play defense and shoot threes...in the end it was the failure to lead us out of the weak east.

It's a business after all, it would have been nice if we could have rode his team to the finals. But, we couldn't.

I think most people in the states believe it's a sure thing he wont stay. It's basically stated as fact that he wants to play in LA... and on the off-chance he's willing to play with a non-LA team, why would Toronto of all places be that place? Lol. Realistically, it's only people in or from Canada/Toronto that believe he could maybe possibly stay.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

We now have the best player in the Eastern Conference, the hate here is hilarious. Some people would rather go down with a sinking ship than give up a player they are so emotionally invested in. As a Raptors fan, this trade makes us a better team, and that's what I care most about.

If kawhi bolts we're going to look so stupid! It's not just the fact that he got traded. You traded your star player that wanted to be here thafor a rental so I can understand why players are speaking on it. The guy needed to go but to dump him for a rental looks bad. If kawhi bolts there is no way masai can keep his job.

As much as we hate on demar and call him a fake allstar. Dude is liked around the league, even more than lowry. The last thing you need is a player thats liked around the league bad mouthing the organization after years of us rebuilding the stain on raptors from all the players that bolted.

For that 1 year, we'll be a better team than we ever were with Derozan. I also trust Masai isn't going to lay down after this move, he's going to do his best to convince Kawhi to stay here with whatever he's got planned next. As a fan, I'm more excited than I've ever been (since VC days).

Good riddance, if he was loyal to us he would have played defense.

I hate what Durant and LeBron did, but stuff like this makes me more sympathetic to their situations. In the end it's a business, everyone is looking out for themselves.
