If Kawhi walks and we get nothing for him, it will mean Masai had traded Yak + a 1st round pick to dump Demar's contract (which he gave out); basically a higher profile Demarre Carroll situation.

If we re-sign Kawhi, this becomes the best move in franchise history.

If we sign and trade him for assets (like Ingram or Kuzma), it becomes a positive move where we dumped Demar's contract and swapped or upgraded prospects.

He had to give DD that contract. He was still improving and nobody knew how good he'd be. Now he has reached his full potential, it's obvious he's not a superstar and hardly plays defense. Even if KL walks for nothing, the rebuilding process can start much sooner oppose to waiting 2/3 years for DD contract to expire. That alone is worth this trade. But I think worst case MU will turn KL into a Kuzma or Ingram and a pick. Whatever happens it's a good deal.

Remember when people said the truth was the king of the north ? LeBronto will officially put himself down as the king of canada when he does his final act and destroys this team, sending us into a rebuild by ripping kawhi from us next season. I can already see the American media running with it, clowning drake and the city. "Lebron officially puts the 6ix, 6ix feet deep" If dude gets kawhi to join him in LA his legacy will be the player that destroyed the NBA team in canada. I mean at that point I don't see anybody owning us like that ever again.

Come on you know Americans are petty. They're going to say even when lebron is in another conference he's still owning the raptors. I'm telling you lebron's final act is most likely going to be sending us into a rebuild, and possibly getting masai fired. This means he got the winningest coach in franchise history fired, the franchise player and one of the longest serving raptor traded, then took what we got for that player, got masai fired, and sent us into a rebuild. Also If we're going to rebuild lowry is gone for the draft picks that's going to be needed at that point.

You're fooling yourselves if you're dumb enough to think American media is not rubbing their hands like birdman and drooling at this storyline.. Lakers fans will also have another step up on us. From kobe dropping 80 plus on us, to lebron doing this while in a laker jersey. The story line is too juicy, and Americans pettiness level to clown Canada is way too strong to pass this up. Dude I've seen people from England saying LeBronto.

I'm telling you next offseason the story line could possibly be ...

HOW LEBRON SINGLE HANDILY DESTROYED A NBA FRANCHISE IN CANADA. This is going to be a major part of his legacy. Today it's apologize to masai, but what might possibly be around the corner is a stain that might never be removed! You know how these idiots keep asking lil b to bless us ? We might be asking lebron to do so when he retires. If he gets kawhi to bolt you know he's still going to show up to caribana like he always does ... American media are going to destroy this organization next summer if lebron pulls this off. THE KING DESTROYS THE RAPTORS AND PARTYS IN THE CITY.

You guys better pray for the sake of this organization thàt anybody gets kawhi but the lakers. This will mean lebron has officially destroyed almost every major accomplishment of this organization, and I don't think any NBA player has ever done this to an before. A Canadian team is the first team to get own like this by a mega American star smh you're fooling yourselves if you think they're not pushing this storyline. Dude plays for the lakers! The lakers!! The lakers, knicks and celtics have a lot of nut huggers that work for the media in the states.

He didn't have to give him that contract. Demar was 27 at the time. He had peaked.

That's subjective. Either way he flipped him into KL, a superstar when healthy. Well worth it.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if when Masai managed to get Kawhi on the phone, after his intro and welcome him to Toronto and his plans for the team (and Kawhi) he said “there’s someone here who’d like to say hello”, and then Masai passed the phone to Obama.

I don’t care about politics all that much, but I can see Kawhi being more than a little impressed if Barack Obama’s on the phone congratulating him and encouraging him to give Toronto the best he can give.
Masai and Obama ... two guys who can flat out talk.

For 1-year of a superstar, while attaching a former lotto pick and another 1st rounder to do it.

This only becomes a good deal if Kawhi re-signs or if we can S&T him/trade him before deadline. Masai still has work to do.

Nope. A star not superstar and an average center at best if he reaches his potential. I get your point though. Still worth it.
