They should be starting up soon.
That's the best of the best. Guys like LeBron, KD, Harden, Westbrook, etc. all show up and show out.
Siakam has graduated from the Rico Runs, now he's ready to play with the big boys.

I'd rather he stay with Rico. He developed nicely last summer, and if all our young guys go like they did last year even more reason to stay there.

Keep Siakam away from LeBron and KD until he's signed his extension

you know you're allowed to take part in different ball runs?
Not saying he shouldn't take part in the Rico Runs, considering he trains there every day so it'd make sense for him to play their most of the time.
All I'm saying is that I expect Siakam to pull up to the Chris Brickley runs as well.
Plenty of guys went to both runs last year including Harden, Westbrook, Paul, etc.
The more experience/competition, the better. :)

Ah, as long as it not an either or then I cool with that.. Yes more experience the better. I just really hope some of the young guys like OG and SJ work as hard as Siakam and have anything close to the developmental growth Pascal has shown. I'm already confident Pascal going to be better again this year.

Rico Hines birds by Kings so there goes that. Hope Raptors nite David Nurse

Respect to the Kings - some benefit for being in California befalling them too

They really really turned it around after Cousin era and lambasted for their owner

Vlade has been doing good things there. Things really turned around when they handed him the reins.

Dudes absolutely shredded and it’s only mid-July. Expecting big things this year from the Stanimal.

He always is, that was his thing since his rookie year, "NBA ready" body. But he can't really jump or run fast.

As long as he improves his perimeter game and continues to guard at a high level it don't matter if he can jump or run fast. Just become a 3 and D guy with good passing instincts and he's a valuable role player.

You mean working with Handy voluntarily since he doesnt work for the Raptors anymore? I don't think so. Pascal works with Rico voluntarily. OG, Stanley, RHJ, Serge all have their own guys that they regularly work with in the offseason (not with Handy). Handy works with a lot of players in the offseason but none that notable (on a reg. basis) but I think Handy might be doing less now as he preps for his front-row bench role with the Lakers next season, which is more about strategy and not about development.

Based on their IG's Dewan Hernandez and Terence Davis are both in Toronto right now likely gonna go through team sponsored mini-camp.

Just two small videos from today of Siakam throwing down a dunk and shooting a free throw. Nothing special.

Interesting Siakam still hasn't participated in any of these runs considering he trains in the same gym.
That video is full of Stanley Johnson highlights though.

@ the 27:35 mark he says something along the lines of "in a few weeks when the Raptors bring their 2 teams in"

Yeah.
Terence Davis a couple weeks back said the Raptors were gonna have a mini-camp in LA. I knew he was referring to the Rico Runs.

@ 28:48 mark, Rico tells Stanley Johnson: "Stan, you know what we are. Go to the hole every time! Don't try to..I don't give a F@#$%, we'll make a 3 that's gonna happen. Live at the line and guard whoever the best guy is...and only thing I'm gonna say is I need you to talk more..it's hard to talk when you're tired..that's a big time skill..."

We sending two of our teams over there for the second straight year but we couldn't find Hines a job? Or is it all geographically based that he's going to the Kings? Also, how does that work? If he's employed by the Kings and working out other teams' players

Jordan Crawford walked up and put three threes on Stanley Johnson who couldn't be bothered to cover him. Johnson wasn't saving himself on offence either getting stripped a couple times and another just plain losing his handle and making himself do push-ups on court for his own self-punishment.

I know it is the summer and it is just a run, but there are cameras on and he is on a short deal. He may not get a second chance in the NBA. You'd think he would have more fight to him. He is all muscle but no heart.

Jordan Crawford can still put on a clinic, he's a pure scorer by all means but he checks out mentally similar to Lance Stephenson. Bobby Brown is the biggest travesty that never happened in the NBA, every time he was given minutes in the NBA he performed, and he destroys competitions outside of the NBA as well. Really should've been a solid backup guard for a team somewhere instead of a fringe third stringer.

I'm worried with what I'm seeing from Stanley. It's not just the body language, you see guys like Trae where he just wants to take over, Stanley seems to accept a role player role mentally and just veers off to the side and passes off at any chance. Whenever he gets the ball he looks scared to even handle it. It's a far cry from the guy he was in HS/Arizona/SL where if you gave him the ball look out he's going to go at your defense every play.

In the few times he tried to drive he once lost the ball awkwardly out of bounds and started laughing and doing pushups in jest, another time he drove and got stripped on a very weak strip where he didn't protect the ball at all going down the middle on 3 defenders, another time he was blocked by Bell on a very underwhelming layup. He just seems to have no commitment to actually drive hard to the basket, he's hesitant and stuck between not knowing what he should do. I see a player who lacks confidence.

I really hope the Raptors can turn his offense around, but I'm not hopeful, this footage looks like the same old NBA SJ to me.

Did you not see some of Pascal's runs? Dude would be continuously blocked at the basket. Stanley's on ball defense is pretty excellent so I'll chop it up to exhaustion. I think he needs to get his big ass going downhill more often and work on his conditioning though. It's good he's been putting so much work.

Van Gundy really messed with Stan's confidence and he's been stripped of minutes and put in crappy development system's that didn't priorities his potentially high ceiling. Nurse is like preschool teacher with those positive affirmations and confidence boosting, so I think it'll be a great fit considering how good the Toronto coaching staff is at building players from scratch. Remember how he would always praise FVV even when he was grossly unplayable vs Philly?

So where is OG Anunoby, what he's up to?

Return to Toronto Raptors
