The Celtics are a really bad matchup for Gasol despite how good of a defensive presence he still is. This is a series where they might have to limit his minutes and stagger in Boucher and RHJ. I'm surprised Nurse didn't use more of his bench in game 1, but all season he seemed pretty rigid with using the 8 guys he liked (including McCaw), and he doesn't seem to trust Davis yet (or Boucher/Thomas). Hopefully we see some different looks in game 2.

Check out the GB thread, Brothers is a legit Celtic killer. Depending on how you want to look at things, it’s good or bad.

If you believe in ref bias and/or shadiness then it’s great news for us but if you think it’s just random then the Celtics are overdue for a win in a Tony Brother game.

I'd rather have Tony Brothers over Ed Malloy. That guy kills us every single time.

Tony Brothers vs Raps sample from the 2019 playoffs:
Game 3 at ORL – Raps barely won (by 5) and free throws were 23 to 10 for the Magic
Game 4 vs PHI – Raps won and free throws were about the same
Game 7 vs PHI – Raps won by two and free throws were 30 to 19 for the Sixers
Game 5 at MIL – Raps won and had a 31-18 free throw advantage
Game 2 vs GSW – Raps lost but had 3 more free throws

More Ibaka and Boucher. Less Gasol.

No more 3 guard lineups!

Can we start Boucher instead of Gasol? His energy to start off the game will help imo. Also doesn't mess with our bench

I can specifically remember a game in Boston where Tony Brothers absolutely f*cked us. He’s probably just an overall bad ref but definitely not a Celtic killer.

Not happening unless Gasol comes out guns blazing. Gasol hasn't played 30 minutes in a game since January and he played 25 in G1 (which would have been a lot lower had Ibaka not picked up a flagrant and went to the bench to cool down). Gasol will likely play 20-25 minutes and a large chunk of it will be with Ibaka on the floor too.

Sucks about Brothers, but we do get the best ref in the game in Zarba. Overall, a big improvement from game 1 here.

The lead official Zach Zarba is actually pretty good. Probably one of the better refs in the league.

Edit: ^^Beat me to it lol

Kemba tweaked his knee in game 1. Raps need to attack him as much as possible. Its highly likely his knee won't last.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

- He had one of the highest contest/block rates of three point shots per 36 in the league

Pure chaos. We need it

Boston purposely going with Robert Williams instead of Enes Kantor to minimize Marc's impact defensively. We need to match up accordingly

Wtf is nurse waiting for.... enough of this failed gasol strategy....

Agreed, Ed Malloy refs like he has a personal vendetta against Nick Nurse. Scott Foster a close second IMO, before Tony Brothers.

Ed Malloy was the key reason we lost the 1st quarter of Game 1, He did the damage which our boi's couldn't recover from. If I remember correctly it was 11-5 fouls on us real quick in the first couple of minutes

It's interesting how everyone has a different idea in here. RHJ, Boucher, Thomas, start Norm. Folks don't even talk about a lineup that worked well with Gasol-Ibaka, or more time for Davis, who looked good. Then we do have that small lineup with OG at the 5 in our pocket.

Just shows you that we have tons of options, but nothing obvious (unlike say back in the day where there were obvious moves that Casey was totally blind to, like putting Ibaka back at C, etc).
