Nah. Ibaka was a fine role player the last two seasons under Nurse and next to Lowry, but he's replaceable. The way people talked about him around here, you would think he was like Anthony Davis if you didn't know any better. The reality is that Ibaka lacks a lot of skill (outside of shooting the ball), gets torched on the defensive end a lot, and is kind of a black hole on offense (jacks up shots as soon as he can, and doesn't make quick reads).

I'm not quite sure what the Clippers were thinking when they picked Ibaka up, since he doesn't really fill any of their deficiencies. They don't have anyone like Lowry who can easily feed him in the PnR for short jumpers. I won't miss Ibaka, but to be fair to him, he did have his moments, like stepping up in Game 7 against the Sixers and capping off that awesome comeback against the Pacers.

My guess is Serge asked for the player option in his 2nd year and the Raps didn't give it to him. That being said, we could have easily offered him a 1 year 20 (matching the clippers overall $$$). I wonder what we offered.

Ibaka played well for us but I’m here to tell you that Gasol is more valuable defensively especially in the East against the likes of Embiid and Vujevic!
So bring back Gasol on 1 yr deal and sign a young back-up C
