It seems like the consensus on this is no, and while I can’t see the Pelicans trading him, I actually think he would fit this roster fairly well. Look, we know he isn’t a great team defender. Part of what made that worse when he was here is that he was surrounded by guys that also weren’t great defenders. That being said, we’re full of good to great defenders now.. so I don’t know that JV’s defensive limitations would be as detrimental now as they were before. I also think that what he would bring that we’re lacking (reliable 3 point shooting, size, rebounding, interior post defense which isn’t bad) would offset the negative that his team defense might be.
I don’t know what you would trade for him that the Pelicans would want but I do think adding him to this roster would be more positive than negative.
