Yeah, there's no rush to make a trade. As a GM, you really only have a limited number of moves you can make. Like once you've gone all-in for a Gobert, it's over for a while.
Also, I'm sure pretty much all of our players (minus Scottie) are being surveyed for value and possibilities. It's pretty complicated.

Bro.. I honestly just don't get it.
Kyrie made a trade request and was moved in like three days. Ainge got to Boston and moved Mitchell and Gobert for one of greatest hauls in history. Did the same thing when he moved his pair of HoFers to build the foundation of what Boston is now. Pacers moved off of Sabonis and got Haliburton.
But for some reason, we're waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting to move the likes of FVV, OG and Siakam.
Now there's a chance we get lowballed or nothing gets done at the deadline because teams are waiting to see what happens with Durant.
What he said is not wrong - there is definitely risk to waiting to the final hour to squeeze the last bit of juice. Something could unexpectedly come up or teams can just pivot and move on from their bids on FVV

Wiretap says Nets haven't ruled out trading Dinwiddie again. Swap him for Fred plus whatever filler.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I think Trent continues to be a safe bet to remain. Assuming that agent and front office have spoken and that Trent is cool with a number in the low 20's, I think you absolutely re-sign him.
Now if OG's issue is only about getting more touches and not having to point out to Nurse in hotel hallways that Fred isn't letting other guys bring up the ball, we can solve that by trading Fred.... and Siakam.
Selling high on both, we could theoretically reset the team culture around Scottie, OG, Trent, and Achiuwa and round out the roster to our liking with the trade returns. Shipping out Fred and Siakam would also shatter the existing sacrosanct pecking order, totally resetting it for an offense revolving around Scottie. We'd have that young core and a wealth of assets and picks to build upon going forward.
The tale going round is that OG is looking to get his extra touches elsewhere, but at this point I'm super curious about just how impactful the player disgruntlement issues may be and how it may determine who must leave. If not for those stories of his disgruntlement, there'd really be no reason to trade OG right now.
I believe trading Fred would satisfy OG enough for him to stay. Eric Smith hinted at that scenario a few games ago
OG said as much in the Trade Fred threads - he outed his realgm account a few days ago

TOR gets Conley, Olynyk, Lakers 2025 FRP (1-3 protection)
LAL gets FVV, Birch, Hernangomez, Malik Beasley
UTA gets Westbrook, Lakers 2027 FRP (unprotected)
Toronto avoids dealing with FVV’s free agency, picks up a veteran point guard who can provide mentorship without needing minutes since he is at the tail end of his career, and adds a big who can space the floor and plays adequate team defense. Toronto gets a FRP for the Lakers since they are giving them the main player of interest in the trade.
Lakers get their PG who they can re-sign with Bird rights. They also add depth with Beasley, Hernangomez, and Birch. Frankly, it could be other role players from Toronto and Utah but those guys made the salary work. Lakers waive players as needed to make roster space.
Utah takes Westbrook for the unprotected pick.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumours & Discussion Thread III (Thurs Feb 9 3pm)
I think Nets want to compete to convince KD. The main reason they took Mavs trade is because they can use some of those assets to get a PG replacement. I can see them going after Fred option A , Rozier option B or even D. Russell Option C. I think for them they have a 1 to 2 year compete window before KD demands out. So the PHX package getting CP3 back would not entice them because CP3 is nowhere near where he use to be and is not guaranteed to help them in the playoffs.

be real, they are not trading spencer/picks for an FVV upgrade, I think they are going for someone like Lavine and maybe even OG.
Rozier?

Re: Trade Deadline Rumours & Discussion Thread III (Thurs Feb 9 3pm)
Lakers should pony up for FVV (and GTJ)
give the Raptors all your remaining 2 unprotected FRP, Christie and Reaves (and Westbrook for salary ballast) . I think Lakers have a good chance to win if they get FVV. FVV is going to get all the open shots with Lebron and AD on the floor.
those FRP (2027 & 2029) is when Lebron is retired (i think he plays till he's 40-41, depending on how competitive the Lakers are tbh) and AD is past his prime (and FVV is past his prime but GTJ is in his prime - if he's still there)
by that time, we could be adding cheap lottery level talents to our main core by the time the Raptors could be real playoff contenders again with Scottie Barnes (26yo) and this year's draft pick matures (23-24yo)
i really don't see this current core going anywhere. Not after what we saw in the 2022 playoffs and are seeing in 2023 regular season.

They don’t need OG, they have the Sf depth and defence. They need a real point guard and no Spencer is not it. Already the report has came out that they would consider moving Spencer for the right deal. Spencer and KD aint doing anything in the playoffs.

To the Suns fan that posted this, I am totally annoyed with the Suns and Sarver. If we have to wait until Wednesday to do a trade because of his veto for any contract over $10m, it is costing Toronto time on all deals. Other teams we are working with could pivot.
Sarver also hates Klutch of which we have 3 clients (FVV pending) that the Suns might want.

OG being outed on RealGM almost seemed plausible for a second.

Yeah, I don't think we're waiting on the Suns. Teams are likely waiting on the Raps. Masai is all about the waiting as is almost always a good policy for a seller.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….
