Pizza Pizza isn't near as bad as it used to be. If you order thin crust and well done it's decent when you factor in the cost (if you pick it up).anj wrote:Legit: Descendant, Badiali, Bitondo's, North of Brooklyn

Fond childhood memories as well. Apparently Birchmount/Ellesmere brought it back? Monday to Friday 11:30am to 1:30pm, excluding holidays! $13.99 a person. (The last RFD update was in Oct 25 2023, so...maybe call ahead).
I can confirm it's back because shamelessly I went last month after years just for old times sake. The price point is no longer worth it with a drink and tip your over $20. No refills anymore BTW and no desert pizza either.

16 or 12 inch?
I find you can't load the pizza too much (taboo I know, forgive me) because its too heavy to shimmy off.
Do you have this issue?

Their cheese pizza is low key pretty damn good.
High key. And their pepperoni is solid too. Lots of cheese, slightly burnt pepperoni. 11/10 because of the value. 8/10 for the actual pizza.
I believe in Masai.

Pizza outside Italy is massively overrated
Found the pretentious foodie already.
Its not pretentious. Pizza in italy is on another level....largely because of fresh ingredients. We cant even get proper cheese around here at a reasonable cost due to ridiculously high cheese import taxes (something like 200% when I last looked it up unless you import by the truckload).
Toronto's pizza game has improved compared to what it was a decade ago. Of the places I've tried....I'm a fan of North of Brooklyn, Descendants and Pizzeria Delfina. I will never go to Baldiali's because I would never lineup for food like I'm homeless.
In the suburbs, Red Swan is surprisingly good/different.
Italian ingredients are better. No argument there. Their rules are far better and heritage is more important than yield.
That said, you still need to find a good spot. Good ingredients with crappy execution is still just average.
I believe in Masai.

I follow the trends of all the places mentioned, but Danforth Pizza House is a constant in my rotation.

16" but only because I sometimes have company and I enjoy entertaining.
I find if you get the dough the right hydration it's not difficult to shimmy off when if you load it.
I flour the bottom pretty heavily as well. Build the pizza on a large wooden butchers block and shimmy it on and off into the oven in a matter of seconds.

Had it recently for the first time ever and was blown away on how good it was for 2.30. Pretty close to some of the cheese slices you have in New York, and for that price my goodness.
A lot of these pizza places simply stopped selling slices and force you to pig out on a medium by yourself.

Same, my buddies and I used to go during our high school years. Usually the one at Don Mills/Lawrence (I think it's gone now but that location was around for a good 25+ years), sometimes the one at Don Mills/Finch. Good times.
Now down here in South Florida all the Pizza Huts are delivery/takeout only. I think the Canadian ones are/were trending that way also. One of the biggest letdowns of my young adult life was finding out the dough was delivered premade and frozen. Never tasted quite the same once I knew that.

I've had Papa Johns once in my life. I can't imagine a worse slice of pizza.

Long time lurker and Italian (Canadian) here. Never post about basketball but this is too important a topic lol.
I love in the burbs so I can't comment on 416 pizza however:
Marconi's in Sauga is pretty good.
Marcello's in Vaughan.
One of the GTAs best however believe it or not is Fortino's roman style pizza.
Of course the best pizza can be found in the southern half of Italy (Naples/Campania esp).

Yeah agreed. Applestones is good. Love their panzos so. Artisan pizza is pretty darn good.
I love by Dundas and Appleby so Mamma pizza is good for a quick pick up deal.
Pizza Nova is decent for chain pizza

Re: OT: Your Favorite Pizza
Low key, pizza is the most-overrated food on the planet. The dough is generally so flat that it is cardboard now (what's with the burnt crust), the sauce is bland, the cheese and toppings stay roughly the same making it the most boring option. I think that we all keep going back to pizza because it was a treat as kids.
For fastfood/dining cuisine, my official ranking:
1.Ramen
2.Poke
3.Butter Chicken
4. Pulled pork
5.Hamburgers (recently had Shake Shack and it is at the top now)
6.Bibim Bap
7. Mexican small serving tacos
8. Fish and chips
9. Chicken and waffles
10. Schwarma
11. Pizza
