Obviously if you're the Lakers, you pull the trigger on this trade 10 out of 10 times, but now they have no legit starting calibre big man. Seems like a huge hole. Also, what did Utah actually give up? Says that they received the corpse of JHS and two 2nd round picks, but not what they sent..

Yeah, no. I'm not buying this. Do they understand the bidding war that would have taken place if Luka was put on the market?

Could be them doing Luka a favour.

What do they owe him? I would have traded him to Shanghai if I got a slightly better offer.

So they're concerned about Luka's conditioning, but they go out and grab AD and his chronic injuries..... lol

No they couldn't. AD is better value than anything Raptors got. AD is even more valuable than Scottie at this age.

But Mavs could have got much better value than that.

Anthony Davis is 31 (will be 32 in March). While he may no longer be as injury prone as he used to be, the Mavs just made themselves worse.

An offer of multiple FRP's, and pick literally a combo of anyone not named Scottie Barnes and that package is right there.

No one on Toronto not named Barnes is close to this value. Not that we would have been in the bidding anyways.

Like a Luka x Cuban scrap?

Like wtf???? This makes no sense for the Mavs… I can’t believe this.

Speculation he told the team he didn't like something and would be using his opt out after next season and would force himself to a preferred team. Dallas didn't want to lose whatever leverage it had so acted before news of Luka's availability got out.

I'm certain they could've gotten a significantly better package from a dozen other teams. Heck, I would've offered up Scottie + IQ/RJ for Luka.
Luka is a borderline generational talent and they just traded him for an aging AD who is injured half the time. LIKE WTF??????

Most lopsided trade in NBA history. Absolute madness. I'm in total disbelief right now.

Lmao bro Lakers could go 0-82 next season and this would still be the greatest trade in NBA history.

No sir.

Lakers just got a 25 year old top 5 player. They might no win this year, but this sets them up big time to have a chance for the next 5-6 years.

All it takes is one more guy to force their way there and its a powerhouse. Giannis is a FA in 24 months. KD is a FA this summer. Etc.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

yep lakers just replaced davis max with doncic max, they still project to have max cap space in 2026.

Utah got more for Rudy fkn Gobert man. What the hell were they thinking?

I'm supposed to sit here and watch perpetual losses to get a shot at a star while the Lakers just get it gift-wrapped to them over and over and over? Makes my blood boil.

Yep, Giannis makes sense there now. And they still have the cap space, since they moved AD's deal.

For Pat Riley, this is similar to the idea that Masai was readying for Giannis to hit the market
