Great asset management and contract by the Raps. If we draft Flagg or Bailey and decide to move Ingram in a year or so, we'll recoup everything we gave up and then some, assuming he's healthy.

the team has until the 2026 draft to get under the luxury tax if they don't want to pay it.
Yup, just think that it will be a more painful process if they do have to do so now.
'They aren't really in danger of being in the tax.

This organization is so predictable.

Re: Shams: BI extension (3 Years $120M)
I don’t love the player option but we will be able to approach him on an extension right around the 2027 deadline. So in theory we can trade him then if he doesn’t want to resign.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Re: Shams: BI extension (3 Years $120M)
This deal gives us flexibility which MU wants.
Added our likely top scorer for a 1st+expirings
Short deal to prove injuries were a NO thing
If injuries pile up, it's still a short deal that can be moved
If he plays great, we can re-sign him or move his still
It's low enough we "could" do nothing this offseason depending on where we draft. But we could move RJ, Ochai, or just trade Gradey/Walter for a future pick. Or a cheaper backup C.
We have the big hole at backup C...and extra SG. So likely something happens. But fir now, we wait till draft day!
Also, he waived his trade kicker to help us out this year. So I view his deal as also getting that 2.1 mill back.

As it stands if our pick is 5th or higher we will be in the tax

Barrett or IQ will be moved for sure within a year
I don't think we can assume anything until we know who the team drafts in June. If it's a point guard, it certainly makes na IQ trade more likely, especially after knocking another season off of his flat-lined contract. If it's a wing, then maybe RJ becomes more likely, but if it's a C or PF, who knows. If it's Flagg, I doubt the team will worry about the tax, only keeping under the first apron, because financially, he'd be good for playoff revenues (it's the East, playoffs will not be an unreasonable goal), higher TV ad sales, merchandise sales etc
2019 will never be forgotten because FLAGS FLY FOREVER

I mean, it does start at $37 if you factor in max raises which most were. Is that so far off?
Are you sure it starts at 37m?

Not really. Fred got a team option, not a player option.

I still think one of RJ or IQ will be moved before or during next season.
No way does this team pay the tax.

Looks like the FO is all set to dip out of the lottery and compete for the playoffs next season. No multi-season tank/rebuild like many were musing. At least not intentionally.

If it starts higher, it means he's getting smaller raises. The starting point is somewhat irrelevant, the AAV is what matters. The people citing a $34m starting salary were all attaching max raises to it. They were off by a couple million. So what are you laughing at exactly? Your own ignorance and inability to do math?

Not if we role with a 13man roster plus 2-ways.
