What do the Nets have to offer for Harper?

Multiple picks in the first round of the 2025 draft (#8, #19, #26, #27) and future draft capital - 2026 1st round pick (BKN), 2027 1st round pick (via NYK), 2027 1st round pick (via PHI), 2027 1st round pick (BKN - swap rights to HOU), 2028 1st round pick (BKN), 2029 1st round pick (via NYK), 2029 1st round pick (BKN - swap rights to HOU, DAL, or PHX), 2030 1st round pick (BKN), 2031 1st round pick (BKN).

Top 5 are pretty much set.

Which teams are likely to select Fears before the Nets at #8?

He's probably not going to go in the top 4 ahead of Flagg, Harper, Bailey, and Edgecombe, so between Utah (#5), Washington (#6), and New Orleans (#7) - who would take him before the Nets?

Utah already has Colin Sexton, Isaiah Collier and Keyonte George.
Washington already has Bub Carrington, Marcus Smart, and Malcolm Brogdon.
New Orleans already has DeJounte Murray, Jose Alvarado, and Elfrid Payton.

Unless they take Fears as the BPA and make moves otherwise to give him playing time at the PG position, I could see Utah taking Kon Knueppel or Tre Johnson, Washington going with Derik Queen or Khaman Maluach, and New Orleans taking whoever is left between Knueppel and Johnson - leaving Fears still available for the Nets to take at #8.

Pelicans - Murray is out, alverado n Payton aren't long term fixtures

If Kon Knueppel, Ace Bailey, or Tre Johnson are still available, are the Pelicans going to pick Jeremiah Fears ahead of them?

Goran Dragic 2.0 takes minutes away from every back court player on our team. He made All NBA one year for petes sake. He was like Steve Nash lite at his peak. That player goes top 9 in almost any re-draft.

Goran Dragic 1.0 took the starting PG spot from Kyle Lowry 1.0. He had the rizz in his day.

Ok guys I have a proposition. Immanuel Quickley + Gradey Dick f+ #9 or #2 plus Paul George's contract. Does that work? I think Philly would like it. I think we'd be giving up too much... but hey, if Harper turns into an All-NBA PG in 5 years, then it's worth it.

Ya a bit much we give but I'd do it. Quick is not a PG, and undersized at SG, I am not convinced he's our guy long-term. This is why I think we still need a PG unless we think Shead is it. This why I am thinking Jak, he can play alongside Shead as I think he looks stronger and taller than Quick. He might fill his frame a bit and get stronger

The Spurs don't need more picks. They have zero reason to move off pick 2 unless they get an established NBA player back imo.

Correct. If it's a three way that nets them a bonafide superstar then fine but Spurs are not going to break their dollar into nickels, dimes and quarters for no reason.

Also, it's not a deal Brooklyn should be making either. They're at the very start of their rebuild and moving 4 firsts in this draft as well as futures for Harper isn't the kind of thing they need to be doing right now. Each of those picks individually present a chance to draft a star on their own. Moving them all for one guy at this stage of the game isn't wise.

Bobby/Masai made it clear that they need to bolster the front court this summer.

If you look at the four Eastern Conference finalists - Cavs, Celtics, Knicks, Pacers - they all have a stretch big (i.e., Mobley, Porzingis, KAT, Turner).

If we don't draft Maluach, I expect us to be very active in the trade market in order to acquire a capable shooting front-court partner for Scottie.

Poeltl is great but he isn't gonna cut it, especially when the rest of the starting line up consists of average to below average 3pt shooters (Ingram, RJ, Scottie).

The Spurs traded the #8 pick (Rob Dillingham) in last year's draft for a 2030 pick swap (top 1 protected) and 2031 first round pick (unprotected). Even though they won't be able to cash-in on those picks for another 5-6 years, they were willing to trade a lottery pick for 2 future picks that might end up outside the lottery depending on how the T-Wolves are moving forward.

If the Nets want to move up badly enough to get Harper, I'm sure the Spurs would be willing to listen since they have enough current (2024 draft) and future draft assets to entice them.

No one under 6'6! Luke Kornet as backup C with part of the MLE. Trade for like Goga Bitadze.

If we took Coward at 9, would he be doubling up on Walter? He's a lot longer than Ja'Kobe but he still looks more like a 2 than a 3, which we're pretty stacked with.

Not sure what deal is out there but I’d make a consolidation trade with IQ and Dick to get around 40 million and see who we can get.

There is a Jak/IQ/Dick for Sabonis/Carter deal that can be made that allows us to still draft someone like Jase and have Carter/Jase/Walter run the ‘1’ and leave the bulk of the playmaking to Sabonis, Ingram, Scottie, RJ who are all 5+ assist guys

Pretty extreme roster change that depends on Scottie going up a level defensively to make up for Sabonis but it boosts the offensive floor even more and allocates IQ’s money to an actual star player. If Scottie takes a leap were even more stacked

We wouldn't move IQ right away anyways. PG's almost always need time to adjust plus we need the depth anyways.

IQ is getting underrated I think mostly just from missing lots of games this year. He provides something we desperately need...outside shooting.

I have no issue with a consolidation but I don't think your deal makes the Raps better.

I have said I think I would draft Jase at #9(Fears gone) because he can provide 3 level scoring and POA defense. But he should be coming off the bench to play vs easier matchups and to learn the league. But we could also play minutes with him and IQ together to have more creation and shooting on the floor together.

Bigger 3+D guys like Fleming, Coward and Bryant are also fits, but Jase I think has the "ball in his hands scorer" upside that those guys don't.

In this hypothetical it’s probably Devin Carter starting at the 1. He wouldn’t be running the offense but would be the POA defender for the starters and be a spot up shooter. BI/RJ/Scottie/Sabonis all have enough playmaking to suffice there

Jase would be the bench 1 (along with Shead) and share the backcourt with Walter. Then we have Ochai/Mogbo/ and the 39th pick (which we can try to package with the Lakers 2026 SRP to move up). I love the Jase pick because he’s another guy that can play off ball and on and his numbers and tape all scream good player.

I’d love if we could find a way to get Sorber to round out the bench.

No way I pick Fears if Tre Johnson is on the board.

Washington needs to trade #6, #18, Kris Middleton, Corey Kispert for #3 and Paul George. So Washington takes back an extra $10 million in salary.

Honest question, I have only seen highlights. Is he bad on D? What else is missing? If we don't get KJ, I think Chicago will.

He looks like he could run the point, or play SG, then we can trade IQ or RJ or both, and perhaps Dick for another 40-50M player.

Draft a C backup with 2nd rounder, Boucher vet minimum.

I like Jak for us if Maluach is off board but I think it's more likely Jak is off board at 9 because Fears will go above 8 and the Nets will take the best PG available. Some mocks are starting to show this now, Tankathon has Jak going 8 to the Nets.

I think a lot of people question his athleticism and how he’s going to get his shot off in the NBA. He had a bad second half of the season but how much of that is due to his injury? I think he’s the most likely to slip out of the lottery imo. Honestly seems destined to be a back up guard.
