It sounded like the Suns are actually interested in Gobert.

minnesota trading Gobert and starting Naz Reid would be a terrible decision

If the Suns don’t have their picks, at least Rudy might raise their floor.

Solves Minny’s end of playoff game problem, but they could also turn into the Suns if they move Gobert.

Guess Nets just want to get off Claxton’s contract?

It was probably 14th pick and some trash from San Antonio. Getting Gobert and the 17th is looking more like a real offer. Ideally from Minnesota’s standpoint Randle opts in and is traded instead of Gobert.

This makes sense for Minny in that it frees up room to resign NAW and Naz. I actually think this works for everyone. Maybe Minny gives the Nets the #17 and the Nets give the Suns 25,26 to save face a little.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Nets going all-in for 2027 cap space on top of whatever they get here in 2026.

Thought for sure Minny would just cut salary to get out of the tax if they could, but they're committing here assuming Durant gets his extension. If he's just a rental, Minny gets to reset the clock on the tax. I'm sure ownership sees it as win-win.

The Suns just want to treadmill which is why any established C (Gobert, Jak, etc.) will do with their stable of small shooters.

Dont think KD is the solution for the wolves. If I were them I would be more focused on getting a D White type of PG as to moving your C. People underestimating the impact of having a legit C as your defensive anchor. This is also why I would be so hesitant moving Jakob

I don't see any motivation for Brooklyn to send Claxton out. He needs to bring back some draft capital for them to be involved. That said, this trade hard caps Minnesota at the 1st apron, while leaving them about only $200k under the apron to bring back NAW, assuming Reid picks up his option. In order for Minnesota to have any substantial hope of bringing back Reid and NAW, they need to send out more salary than they bring back, so they aren't hard capped. so, for example, they could do this.

Minnesota out: Gobert and DiVincenzo and 17 to Phoenix, 2 future 2nds and Conley to Brooklyn
Minnesota in: Durant

Phoenix sends Durant to Minnesota and a future 2nd to Brooklyn for Gobert, Divincenzo and 17, and Brooklyn takes on Conley for 3 future 2nds.

In this scenario, Minnesota gets a realistic shot at retaining Reid and NAW, and at the same time the trade doesn't depend on Randle picking up his option before the draft.

Gobert/Donte vs. Jak/RJ

Gobert is the best player in this deal, but he's getting old. You'd rather have Donte's skillset too over RJ, presumably, but that's a minor piece of the deal.

The Raptors could add another prospect like Grady and they have more pick options than Minny does.

On balance we'd have the better proposal unless they really love Rudy.

They just need to throw in a minimum-like salary to make up the 2.1 million to not be hard capped at the 1st apron.

Fair enough, but why does Randle opt in early, and why does Brooklyn using $6 million of cap space for no return?

Getting Gobert for the Suns would be massive and almost instantly solves their defensive problems. Since they'll still have Booker/Beal, they are not rebuilding and would be a massive W in that case.

Wolves are shrinking their window around a 23 year old Edwards for no reason, very shortsighted if its true.

Return to Toronto Raptors
