Take Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol off the 2019 team and put Scottie at center. Do we beat the Sixers? I think healthy Embid destroys him.

Is this a serious question? We get destroyed by the Sixers without Gasol/Ibaka.

Time for Darko to showcase that player development magic

Mo Bamba is great in theory. Hoping this is a rare case of a player reviving their NBA careers late.

Considering how badly we need another big I can't hate on this. His g-league stats are strong enough this year to warrant a look.

Doesn't change the long term need to get more quality young bigs but it is a perfectly acceptable stopgap solution.

Probably the best of a few bad options.

Hopefully this is a move to give Poeltl some extended time off to get healthy. It seems like we’ve been rushing him back early because of our lack of options at C.

Now, if Poeltl is out long term (months instead of weeks) we are screwed. Hopefully this isn’t the case.

I checked out some video and his defensive IQ is really really bad. Of course these comps show the low-lites....but his sense of angles and positioning seems to be glaringly poor.

Perhaps he'll be useful to throw in for 5 to 7 minutes here and there when matchups call for it. Otherwise we could be betting that he's had a major life change that has caused him to have a different mental approach. Can't see how it could hurt.

Cant we just trade him to a rebuilding team like the Wizards or ask the Pacers to do us a favour like we did for them when we took on James Wiseman?

That's just dumb to punt a 31st pick like that. The plan was probably to dump Temple this way if necessary. They got him to waive his NTC that he was entitled to before signing his deal.

I agree it's dumb to punt on Mogbo but its a much better choice to punt on him than Ochai who has started plenty of games for you. Ochai has turned the corner the past few weeks and is slowly looking like last years version. Ochai is just one year older than Mogbo and just a much better player to keep around.

This is wrong. Ochai doesn't fit the system at all and isn't good. He also costs much more.

Nothing to lose with this signing. He is a legit big body. Will help Barnes with the help defense.

Bamba isn't a super high IQ player.

People wonder why we don't sign a lot of guys, I think its has to do with the organization being quite strict on player integrity. Look at Hassan Whiteside, he had a monstrous year with Portland, but no one signed him and he ended up taking a vet min deal the following year. Personalities i guess matter a lot. Then you have teams like the Clippers just desperate to win and will overlook any and all issues. Kevin Porter Junior is a good example of teams just overlooking bad personality traits.

Raps tend to stay away. Moses Brown is a defensive beast and has also struggled to find gigs in the NBA. Yet Garrett Temple and Thad Young kept getting contracts.

So much negativity for the 20th man on the team signed to a contract that can be waived.

Just calling it what it is.

His deal's non-guaranteed but it sounds like they very much intend to keep him beyond the deadline. And no matter how you slice and dice this, Mo Bamba just isn't a very good player at 27 years old after having been given all kinds of opportunities by multiple teams over the years.

Raptors seemingly have shown strong desire to get under the tax line so even they themselves agree they shouldn't be a tax team and for them to do this now for someone like Bamba does not look good on multiple fronts: whether it be Poeltl injury, the team getting under the 1st apron, or trade market for our backup SG's.

If none of this sounds positive to you, maybe that's just how things are.

I’m actually excited for this just to see someone else play. The sad part is idk whos minutes he’s gonna take really unless poeltl is legitimately out. But if poeltl is healthy, who is he playing over? Unless Darko goes with bigger lineups and cuts dick out of the rotation that would be fine with me too… play mamu, cmb, bamba together, they’re all kind of tweener big men anyway and both bamba and mamu can space the floor.

In bambas best season and the one he got the most minutes (26 mpg, 69 gs) he put up 11/8/1.7 blocks on 48/38/78 shooting splits 4 3s per game…. After that his minutes dwindled significantly and proceeded to fizzle out of the league… what happened to him? If that man posted this season on the raptors he would be declared a future all star and continued to be force fed minutes by Darko until he was traded.

I’m fine with the signing. If Gradey looses some minutes as a result, then work hard and give Darko a reason to play you.
