I watched the game and came away pretty disappointed in JV's play. He had some good boards, but he missed a few easy lay-ups/dunks in close, and his work on the block was pretty mixed. To be honest I don't think he is ready to be a guy to throw the ball in the post to.

He still looks deliberate in decision making and doesn't have tons of counter moves or sees other options on the floor. There were three to four times where he attempted to do a drop step, but the defender crowded him and at that point he could not swing the pass out of a soft double.

This is definitely the area where Jonas needs to show the most improvement if he is to take the next step and become an elite player.

The good news is that all the tools are there. Its just a matter of building confidence in his post moves....and in his short-jumper.
The absurd mystery of the strange forces of existence.

I felt like Lith made their run with Lavrinovic and Montejunas and the offense kind of stalled with JV. Their pick and roll offense was terrible and it seemed like they couldn't get passes into the rolling JV. It is just one game, but I don't think that his post offense is good. If he can't score 20 pts versus Angola's frontline, then he may need more skill development. The defense was passable, but I'd like to see some more blocked shots.

Agreed. I felt the exact same way. To be honest it was the first Lithuania game Ive watch (aside from highlights) so far this summer - and I was expecting to see better from JV.

The pick and role was definitely suspect. They were having a lot of trouble getting that ball in JVs hands as he was rolling to the net. Im not sure if it was just the shakey passes from the PG or whether JVs timing was off. When they got the pass through its an easy basket for Jonas. Im sure that they will figure it out regardless.

Rebounding looked good though. At the end of the day he still had a double double. I think that hes going to be a beast on the boards this year.

Well Lithuania lost there main PG with a collar bone fracture, so right now they have non experienced PGs running the show along with some of there SGs running the point.

Ah, and that's it right there. I wasn't aware of this while watching the game. The entry pass looked so sloppy I couldn't figure out why.

The PG position has been Lithuania's weak spot for some time now. Since Sarunas Jasikevicius retired Lithuania hasn't had any really good PG prospects in awhile. Their main strength is their frontcourt. Until they can grow a good PG I'm not sure they'll be able to medal consistently.

To be fair I think Kalneitis has been better than Jasikevicius for the last 5 years. Kalneitis is actually a very solid PG / SG hybrid even in Euroleague play. He is a decent ball handler who can hit 3s, shoot off the dribble, and get to the rim. His defense has always been better than Jasikevicius' too.

That said I've been somewhat impressed by Adas Jusikevicius 3-pt shooting and defense. I do think LTU shoot switch who brings the ball up the court between the natural PGs and SGs such as Seibutis and Pocius.

Kalneitis is fine but Jusikevicius is still wet between the ears. Though I've liked his pressure D and shooting. Yet PG looks like the weakest of all the positions that LTU has. Are there any up and coming PG prospects in the grape vine for LTU.

I don't know, maybe some other Lithuanian posters know more, but I check the U16, U18, U20 stats pretty regularly just to know who's kinda coming up in Europe, and the most dominating players for Lithuania are still the big men. The next big thing is supposedly one of Sabonis' sons, who is like 6'10" or 6'11". The next one is Sederskis, who has been putting up Saric-lite stats in the U16 for Lithuania, and he's around 6'7" already. There are never anyone on Lithuania's squads who put up large assists numbers, hell, Sabonis was the leading player in APG for their U18 squad and Sederskis was the leading player in APG for their U16 team.

I know of Vytenis Cizauskas who was JV's teammate for all of those under17, u19, u20 tournaments. Since becoming a pro he hasn't made much of an impact yet tho. Appears that he benefited from a physical advantage, mainly his stockiness, to his peers in those under x tournaments.

Aside Sabonis who is a 6'11 PF I do not know of any up and coming LTU players.

With that beard he's starting to look a bit too much like Linas for my liking.

I'd say Sederskis is a rather promising one. He is a forward though. Lithuania has no good PG even in their Under teams.

Lithuania has more than enough talent to bury these guys, but they play so tight. Third game in a row they've just been unable to handle pressure in the opening quarter.
