Kleiza
Motiejunas (injury rehab)
Lavrinovic twins?
Jasaitis
Kaukenas

Kaukenas is nearly 40 years old, his train is long gone, not NT material.
Jasaitis and Ksistof were not invited I believe.
Kleiza and Darjus decided not to play.

re: Kaukenas, woops, I did not know that

Surprised Jasaitis wasnt invited, but maybe he's getting old.

Forgot to mention, what about Martynas Pocius?

He decided not to play because he had some minor injuries and wanted to spend the summer in healing them.

Pocius rehabbing from injury, but hes been pretty crappy the whole year anyway. Guy peaked in 2010, has been a disappointment ever since.

I think Kleiza is already done. He's got injuries and he has no desire left. I don't want him anywhere near NT. I've never liked him, to be fair.

Pocius might yet come back, although not as a main gun. The Lavrinovic twins and Kaukenas too old, Jasaitis looks destroyed by his lifestyle (celebrity wife etc.).

Thanks for all your responses. Interesting to know the state of the LTU national team.

Wonder if Gudaitis/Sabonis will be more involved next time round. And in the future Varnas and Sedekerskis. No PG's though...

Actually I do like Lekavičius. He's young, he's quick, he's lacking some height. Definitely has material for improvement. I just don't know where his ceiling is.

I think JV did well this game. He was pretty good on 1v1 defense against Gasol, threw some good passes and got fouls for very soft pushes.

I didnt know he was only 21 :o

Yeah I think his ceiling is probably (ideally) as a backup. A bit small. But they might have to start him as they might not have better options. Varnas as Kalnietis V2 (SG running the point)?

Ever since Jasikevicius retired, I always thought that Kazlauskas would invite him to the national team training camp. He would be so useful and give so many good advice to the young point guards.

Absolutely love Lakavicius, deffo a strong back-up for years to come. Young, smart, reads the game well.. On topic of young and perspective we also have this guy Kuzminskas (SG-SF). Best physical specimen on the LT team (both size wise and athletic ability) can handle the ball as well as our point guards, can drive, can shoot.. Allergic to greatness tho. Flashes of amazing then a disappear act circe jerk. God damn it, should he ever put it all together, he could be our very own Batum. One can hope..

Kalnietis is not SG though, he is definitely a PG. Guy just has weird fundamentals.

Varnas is definiely SG. But I do think he has potential to run the point if needed. Has that Siskauskas vibe, I really hope that guy develops.

Kalnietis was a sg, but since Lithuania was lacking point guards, he decided he would get more opportunities if he started calling himself pg.

Doesnt really matter actually if they are PGs or not. Cause we lack creative players in general and Varnas with Sedekerskis are pretty creative and good passers which i would love to see in NT in next 2-3 years. Also Marius Grigonis i believe will be very good. Has leadership mentality and also can pass the ball.

What SG qualities does he have? Guy is useless without the ball. MK has been PG and assists machine for years in Europe, and some people still doesn't think hes a PG, I don't get it. If he was run and gun chucker with no pick and roll or passing skills, ala Bo McCallebb or something, at least I would understand where this ''he is not a PG'' thing is coming from.

Come on Ucan.. Kalnietis has good vision due to size, fundamentals for a PG are definitely lacking. Awkward dribble, poor'ish shooter.. He was an amazing athlete back in the day, but..
Now Saras was a PG, Kalnietis is a combo-guard. Not that that's a bad thing.

my 2 cents on JV's performance on Eurobasket:
1. still poor decision making from double teams
2. may be deadly weapon if properly used on PnR
3. well improved man2man defense but still lots to work on rotation when helping, especially choosing position at perimeter
4. a tick too late on PnR offense; tbh, guards were 2 ticks too late to pass to JV when rolling
5. overall, I'd say B-
