@ Dagger - good points made about Moe, I think he could very well be drafted by us or if we trade back too.
He's got the size and skill and is only 19, lots of potential.
We have to be prepared as fans for the guys not being talked about because that usually is the ones that get chosen.

4. MKG (because of the Irving connection though he should not be drafted that high)

DX updated their mock post-combine.
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/
We're still taking Lamb @8.
He's got Waiters in Phoenix and Leonard now in Milwaukee.

Gosh those "experts" were comparing Waiters to Monta Ellis in ESPN the NBA draft combine , lord Christ.
I was telling those "experts" Fredette will get shutdown at the next level and nobody listened
I see Randy Foye written all over Dion Waiters
p.s: I can clearly remember"expert" Jay Bilas saying Randy Foye will be the next Wade in that draft so maybe then Waiters.......

dagger wrote:My reading is that BC is conflicted, and it depends which side of his brain wins out.
On the one hand, he is not going to tank another season, especially with the 2013 draft looking particularly, even historically weak. He has a positive vibe going with Casey and with Jonas coming in, and he wants to show the new owners a 40-plus win season. Hence the focus on either trades (all the Gay/Iguodala rumors) or on guys like Lamb or Lillard or Waiters who bring sort of NBA-ready skills to the table and can factor into his trade/free agency moves this summer by freeing up assets like Demar.
On the other hand, he is almost always a high upside drafter. There were safer picks that would deliver faster than DeMar or Ed. Remember the story about how he and Triano fell in love with DeMar weeks before the draft? And we were trying to placate Bosh, yet he gambled on the player with the much longer development curve and then force-fed him starter minutes, which was a but counterintuitive if he wanted to hang on to Bosh.
BC was willing to wait a whole damn season for his 2011 pick. High upside. In his Phx days, Amare was the ultimate high upside guy (yes, I know his father is often credited with that pick). So who are the high upside guys likely to be available to us at #8? I'd say Perry Jones and Moe Harkless. (I discount pure big men at this point because we have enough of them, Drummond dropping would be the one exception).
So which side of his brain is going to win out?
I think the workout to watch this week is Harkless. Don't be surprised if we bring him in twice. if we do, and given his showing in Chicago at the combine, he becomes the high upside temptation that causes BC sleepless nights leading up to the draft. The evolving book on Harkless is that his offensive potential is especially good, although he is no slouch on D. Well, we do need a SF who can score the ball.
Youngest player in the draft, high athleticism, great size for his position, solid attitude and character, skills coming around nicely.
This, to me is the high upside guy to watch.
Lillard, if he's available, is the immediate contributor to watch.
Yeah, I started the Harkless talk a while back. No one had seemed to have seen him play, including me. But when I heard Wilson Chandler comparisons and then I actually saw him play I was confused. The guy is more of a Paul George/Rudy Gay type although I can see him turning into a Trevor Ariza type as well. Those guys probably go both ways a bit better. Harkless can only really go right, but the potential is there.
Also, he's not the youngest in the draft fyi, that belongs to MKG but I get what you're saying.
As for Lillard, I heard the guys at the combine say he only shoots 30% going right (I think. It could've been left). That is sort of concerning considering he is known to be a shooter and NBA teams will easily expose something like that.

Came across this new mix of Tony Wroten Jr. from his HS days.

Damn, such an explosive player. Tight handles, too.

Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

I'd love for Raptors to trade for a pick between 14-18 (while keeping the 8th pick) and add someone like Harkless, Moultrie, Marshall, Jones, maybe even PJIII if he drops. Can get some really promising talent in that range. These are guys who would for sure be going top 10 next year. If you really are trying to make the playoffs going forward, might as well try to stock up with prospects from this draft.

Yeah if we love Harkless I think the trade down move is obvious. Something like 8th and 37th for 14 and 16 from Houston maybe?
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

We better keep our 8th pick, package Ed Davis + 2nd rounders for 14-20 pick.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

McFurious1 wrote:Pass on Lamb this guy is way to laid back to put the effort on the floor.
Pass on PJ3 he's more of a 4 then 3 and he isn't even that good.
Pass on Waiters he's a six man in the nba and we need starters.
Pass on Rivers only does one thing well. We need more attributes @ 8.
But would'nt be upset if we took him. Big time prospect could be a star.
Green Light:
Lillard - fills a need; brings effort, create for him and others, leader
Sullinger - good rebounder, post-up scorer could end up being Love 2.0
Harkless - reach at 8 but would be a good pick later in the lotto.
Fills a need, raw talent.
If one of Beal, Barnes, MKD, Drummond fall you take them over the above.
You green light Sullinger who I'm confident will round out as no better than a role player and is a reach at 8, but are against drafting 4 of the highest upside players in the draft?
Say what you want about Lambs demeanor in his interviews but I personally feel his 'laid back' style, which I feel has more do with the expression on his face than anything, isn't indicative of his work ethic. He's one of the most skilled players in the draft (top 5 imo) and he didn't there by relying on his physical otherwise he'd be labelled as a raw prospect coming in (there's a SG on this team who fits the bill).
I thought he was a willing defender and that to me says more about his demeanor than a couple of interviews. Feel free to question if he's an alpha male player but I bet the 'lazy' concerns have 0 affect on his draft position.

They've got the Cavs taking Nicholson at 24. Canadian Twin Towers. Cavs lovin their Canucks.
I actually woundn't mind that. It would give me another young team to follow other than the Raps. Might even take a drive down there to see a game.

I'm starting to feel (wishfully) that Beal will be there at #8.
Davis #1
Robinson#2
MKG#3
Barnes#4 (reported strong interest)
Drummond#5 (wiretap story)
Lilliard #6 (Portland needs a point guard)
Sullinger #7 (reported strong interest)
Drummond, Sullinger and perhaps PJ3 are the keys to this draft for the Raptors. If 2 of the 3 go top 7, someone like Beal, Barnes or even perhaps MKG will almost certainly fall. If we end up getting Beal, I feel like we got the 2nd pick in the draft while only having the 8th pick cap hit.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

If it were MKG that fell there would be no chance that GSW let's him drop to us...and even Barnes would be a very low likelyhood. Beal is the only guy who may get to us should he drop and if that huge long shot ever happened then I would lose my mind because aside from the Brow; Beal is player I want most on this team!!!

I agree Beal can fall to 8. Something like this:
NOH - Davis
CHA - Robinson
WAS - MKG
CLE - Leonard or Lamb: They've gone off the board before
SAC - Drummond
POR - Lillard or whoever CLE doesn't take of Leonard/Lamb: Lillard and Leonard fit their needs more + don't rule out any team to prefer Lamb to Beal if they take SG
GSW - Barnes or Sullinger: I would bet on them passing on Beal if he gets there, Klay Thompson is great and they need a SF or another big

I highly doubt Beal drops to us. I think it's gona be the Val case all over again where nobody is talking about him because they don't want other teams to know they are serious about him. I will say this though, if he does drop to us and we have Val and him joining our roster next season I will go streaking.

I'm really not trying to get my hopes up but that .gif of PJ3 jumping like 12 feet and change might be the deciding factor.
