Scottie pulling up for 3s tho :o

Looks like he’s playing with some of his old fsu teammates vs the final four FAU team

Ah, the good ol' summer run videos!! Remember last Summer when ppl saw Scottie video snippets posted to social media and got super hyped believing he had significantly added to his skillset?! Yeah... Until he can shoot a wide open jumper at a reasonable clip, and develops any semblance of the ability to move North-South with the ball and get into the paint on a regular basis, he will unfortunately remain the same old Scottie. He REALLY needs to work on his functional ball handling, footwork, and post-moves, and not focus on pointless perimeter combo dribble moves that get him absolutely nowhere on the court.

Whenever drmar posted these videos people would cream their pants.

Because DeMar was as inefficient as FVV was this season. Both sucked in the 'Robin' role. At least DeMar, gym rat that he is, got better after he left. Maybe Freddy will as well next season, when he has a different team around him.

DeMar improved a ton as a Raptor every year. Gym rat that he is, he is one of few guys who actually got better at skillsets that are considered very hard to improve at. Otherwise he would've been another TJ Warren type...

Scottie needs a jumpshot. I hope he works on literally nothing else.

The difference between demar and Fred is that demar had the physical attributes to get better. Fred has some inherent limitations.

Wait, are we talking about Scottie or Fred in this thread? Anyway, my point is I would love to see some videos of Scottie waking up at 5am every day working on his handles for 1 hour, his jump shots for 1.5 hours and his body for a bit after that.

3 things I want him to work on in the off season.

Handles, handles and handles. I don't care about flashy combinations that he tried to do this year and what OG tried last year as well. I want him to work on functional handles, tighten it up. Something that can get you from North to South.

Stability in his jumpers.

Mastering the art of free-throw drawing.

If he can get even 15% better in those 3 things above, he easily becomes a 20/7/5 guy.

Not sure if you saw DeRozan in his first couple of seasons but he was as raw as it gets. He essentially couldn't do anything but dunk. The amount he improved his handles, footwork and midrange game is actually pretty unprecedented.

Yup, being saying this all season. His handles are more important than his jumpshot imo. His downhill ability will completely open up his game. I think his jumper looks good enough where it will get better with reps in game. In fact he showed a great ability to known down long jumpers with the clock winding down. I think he will be better when he stops thinking and just shoots naturally. But using his handles and footwork to get separation to drive downhill is where his game will really grow and not make him another OG.

One other thing I wanna see from him is improved stamina

That’s why I was happy to hear him talk about conditioning during his end of season presser

There were so many times last season he would get gassed after a long stretch with no time out. And you would see him just hand the ball off cuz he was too tired to attack. A lot of times he would ask for a sub too.

I don’t know if it’s his diet, or if he needs to do more endurance drills, but whatever it is hopefully he’s really addressing it this summer

Disagree. This is from his sophomore season where he averaged 17.2 ppg. I feel like a lot of demars improvements were overstated. This is a guy who year after year was apparently shooting thousands of 3s over the summer and to this day still cannot consistently shoot 3s in game. He already had a lot of the baseline tools and fundamentals down. He was already a good mid range shooter, the idea that he couldn't shoot was perception. I'm not saying he didn't improve or work on his game but the idea he improved leaps and bounds year after year is hyperbole as it always was then. He had the tools, he was given a bigger role once bargnani and then Rudy gay left, and then finally just got a chance to showcase his ability as a first option. But he wasn't as raw as eceryone made it seem.

A guy like norman powell who was a horrible 3 point shooter his entire college career, coming into the league and becoming an elite nd efficient catch and shoot player is more unprecedented. Demar essentially just refined the skills he already had and was given a bigger opportunity. The situation demar was in played a big role in his "improvements."

This. I'm going to be very disappointed in him if he doesn't work on his shooting in the off-season. I know he loves 5v5 but that **** isn't practice. It's fun.
