Maybe its the offseason and I am bored, but I have been thinking about these photos really hard. I mean, with all due respect to the Trent family, why did Masai, Bobby, and Rich Paul fly down to meet with Trent on the first day of negotiations? Pretty sure Rich Paul has other more notable clients that needed contracts, and likewise GTJ is an RFA so there was no real priority to meet with him on the first day. Something had to have been up; probably used Gary's study room for a secret meeting while GTJ was doing his photoshoots lol.

Surprising move for DeMar given that he's from LA and would be playing with Kawhi/Paul George... or perhaps the PTSD of being traded for Kawhi is still lingering.

I honestly think it was the money. I doubt Clippers would have offered him 3/90

Demar a real one for that. Still got the raptors back and making the clippers feel stupid. Should have let them come to his house and then say sorry close the door

Don’t see why it was surprising he denied them. Clippers almost have no money to ever make Demar consider them lol.

Sounds like Lillard wants Draymond, GSW wants Simmons, Philly could get Siakam and Toronto will get draft picks and prospects?
That’s not a contending GSW team without Draymond even if Klay is 100% pre-injury.
I could see a 3 team with GSW-Philly-Toronto. Trade checkers are all busted during the moratorium but something like this should work:
Philly gets Dragic, Wiggins, Kuminga, Moody, GSW 1st, and TOR 1st
GSW gets Siakam, Seth Curry, and TOR 2nd
Toronto gets Simmons and Thybulle
The Sixers get their All-Stars and picks (granted some were just drafted). Dragic and Wiggins are very solid pieces next to Embiid. You have a real PG with a lot playoff experience and a big athletic wing scorer who showed he can defend if he wants to last year. They also add prospects and picks for the future.
GSW adds a win-now piece in Pascal who I think fits their playing style better than Simmons and another deadly shooter in Curry (plus you get the cool brothers on the same team). Kuminga and Moody aren’t helping them right now and obviously they are going for it with signing Steph to that massive extension.
Toronto gives the Simmons experiment and adds another elite defender in Thybulle (getting him is probably too greedy on my part but I think his salary amount is needed to make it work).

Why has Kawhi not re-signed yet? Dude takes forever to make a decision.

Instead of paying big dollars for mediocre players, they can sign bigger talent at a bargain rate.
Whether you like them or not Schroeder, oubre and Markennin are all on the board and can be had for less than market. And there is still some young talent in Harry Giles and Willy Hernangomez available.
Sometimes it backfires, but I like it better as an approach compared to the Knicks where they have a lot of money tied up in lesser players for multiple years.
You mean the method that lands us players like Stanley Johnson, RHJ, Baynes, Len? Who was the last free agent we signed that actually helped this team? Maybe whatever method they're using here needs a slight rework lol.

It might be to show other guys in his range that management wants to meet you. That family atmosphere our, might make others interested down the line.

Alternatively, raptors have shown they do not necessarily need to sign an FA to win. A lot of their success has come from drafting, developing and pulling of a trade when available.
I get that it's nice to get a FA. It'd be super exciting if/when we land a good one, but the front office has been pretty solid over the last few years building winning/competitive teams.

i'm not sure if Klutch had any other significant FA's this year. Any one know?

I don’t see Morey settling and trading for Siakam. Morey is in lalaland and would run it back with the same team lol.
I don’t see the Warriors revisiting that Raptors trade anymore either. They clearly only want a great player if they were going to trade their assets.

Thank you, DeMar!
Considering the Clippers have done nothing this off-season, they waited a little too long to go down the street and talk to DeMar. No wonder he cancelled.

In a way, I'm glad we have Dragic because it prevents this team from overpaying a role player with limited upside.
