This is massive in every way! If he becomes a 35% three point shooter off the catch then that changes a lot.
Moving forward he can start adding pull-up threes in the summer if the stroke is already sound.

I think he is really deserving not because of this numbers only, but he is starting and playing a ton of games and minutes.
Going forward it will be tough. Assuming OG and Trent Jr. come back he is going to have less shots than before.
Franz Wagner on the other hand will have a lot more opportunity. Suggs is out, and Fultz hasn't returned and Cole Anthony is hurt with ankle issues. Wagner is running point for them and he could put up big numbers. He hits threes on a much higher volume, so Scottie may have challenges for ROY.
Not to mention Mobley and Cade who can catch fire as shooters and Mobley can be a difference maker on defense.
Honesty, I love this class. Guys like Giddey, Sengun, Duarte are all playing well. We haven't even really seen Moody and Kuminga who I think will be great players in time.

Franz has all the opportunities in the world in Orlando. unrestricted access to the ball and ball handling duties.
Raptors have started using Barnes to bring up the ball now if you haven't noticed. FVV is a little more off ball, compared to the start of the season. explains why his assists have fallen off (he's not missing people as much as Raptors have Siakam and Barnes and even Banton doing some of the initial playmaking/bringing up the ball - when FVV is on the floor)
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

went to nick nurse event last night at lavelle
1) nick is the best guy and coach
2) raved about scottie and his work ethic ... says he's got all the tools to be a star. Just a basketball junkie. Told a story about him at FLA state... he would always go play hours and hours at an LA fitness and just do runs lol .. they had to kick him out of the gym many times

In the last 5 games, Barnes has made only 1 less 3 point FG than in his entire college career and in these 5 games already doubled Ben Simmons' career 3 point FGM.
Will he shoot 35% this year? Almost certainly not but it's good to see him work hard on areas he isn't good at yet and his development is just starting.
As far as the loafing on defense and trying to show off at times, I'm not sure why everyone tries to make a big deal out of it. That's the personality and he will learn what he can do, what not and will work on that. It's good to get humbled at times but I wouldn't call those antics dumb. You need to take the player with all his sides. If he wouldn't do that, maybe he would be hesitant to ever shoot a 3 and just stand in the corner. Nobody wants that.

It's not just the 3, he's apparently a decent to good mid range shooter as well for a rookie thus far.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread
50% from 3 and zero turnovers. I'll take that all day even though 9 shots is obviously not enough.

Don't forget his post game, very advanced for his age. I mean what else can this kid do? Shoot threes, check, Mid range , check, post up game, check, passing, check, rebounding, post and perimeter defense check, he's only 20 yrs old folks, just put that into perspective.

And he’s still raw. There are multiple instances each night where he’s just lost on either end, yet he’s still THIS GOOD already. Once he integrates all of his skills, refines them, and gets used to all of the situations the NBA will throw at him, he’s going to be extremely special.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Looks like I missed another solid Barnes performance due to work against a Giannis-less bucks. 3-6 from three again?
Oh Lawd I'm not ready.

Durant is just a gifted shooter.
Barnes looks like his body is so balanced, shooting like Al Horford.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread
Why is Scotties shots total even a topic of discussion. Many of us didn't even expect 10ppg this szn and he's already had multiple 20pt games.
He's still a rookie,
He's still a rookie,
