I'm sure another GM could make even more money for MLSE.

Bell and Rogers taking 4/6 seats after the sale makes the past sort of irrelevant, no? And AA has been such an amazing success for the Blue Jays so far, turning them into close to WS favorites (9-1 via Vegas) in a few years despite bad luck with the Halladay prospects, that I have to think the idea of the AA model has to look OK to them
As for the TFC guy, I don't follow them, but it sounds like Payne is an amazing choice based on DC United's track record while he's been there, like the MLS version of an RC Buford. Obviously the board would prefer that to a rookie GM, but I don't think it's evidence we won't go with a new guy
Not necessarily. Sure AA runs the Blue Jays, but look who is behind him. Paul Beeston. Paul is a lot more involved with this team than others like to think. For example, AA had his way with smaller trades (infatuation with relief pitching a symptom of this IMO), however, the big trades like the Marlins one would not go through without Beeston.
Also, Payne is not the coach of TFC, he is the President and GM. In soccer, you often see that the coach/GM is simply a manager of the club. Not the case with TFC any longer. They have divided the role up in a traditional NA way, even though the rest of the league is moving towards the European model of one manager for the club - in charge of player movement and tactics, and game day.
What you are seeing in Toronto sports is that there is a big boss in the background, and then those we see everyday and hear from all of the time. A lot of people questions why we don't see BC in public anymore - no more interviews, etc. I think this is the reason. MLSE has furbished a model where the true decision maker is behind the scenes. I can't see it being any different for the Raptors.
Anselmi acknowledged at the Payne press conference that he truly knows nothing about Soccer. It is essentially the same for Basketball in MLSE. The keys will be handed off to someone who has been in the game for a long time. Rookies with autonomous power will never have a place in MLSE for a long time.

My final final straw will be seeing what BC does with Bargs & Caldy

I'd like to think that won't make too much of a difference. Looking at it from a business standpoint, more wins =more money. People going to games right now has very little to do with BC. If MLSE wants money they'll see their man BC isn't maximizing it for them.

I was about to make a similar comment.
BC is making mad money from MLSE while bring in shabby youth prospects. He will get exiled. Fack it.

Re: Should Bryan Colangelo be Fired
The only "mad money" regarding MLSE and Lyin' Bryan is the 5 million bucks they're paying him annually to put together an endless, depressing string of non-winning seasons. Five and counting. That sort of matches up. Do you think they calculated his salary using that formula? One million bucks per non-winning season all stacked up in one big poopoo pile. Does that mean he'll be getting an extension and raise to $6 million per in 2013?

Not until we're off of this season's best game-winning streak, no, he shouldn't be fired

Re: Should Bryan Colangelo be Fired
Colangelo has failed miserably in his 7 years here . Now in his second year of the 2 year contract
there is no way this team is going to make the playoffs or even get close .The NBA is about talent
and he doesn`t know what good talent is . I don't know where he figured with this roster that he
would even have a chance at the playoffs . Landry Fields ? John Lucas ? seriously , I would fire him
on those signings alone . We need somebody in here that knows talent , has a direction and
a philosophy on how to build a team and stick with it . He has changed paths and philosophy too
many times in 7 years . Thats why we have one winning season in 7 years ,the Toronto fans
deserve better . Colangelo's time is up .

But wait. He has told us to be patient & that hes committed. You can see Val, Ross, Lowry, DD. The future is so very bright. LOL The worst part is some fans still buy into BC selling them on the future. BC can GTFO now. Time is definitely up.

If the team was actually decent MLSE would be raking in a gold mine, someone needs to sell to them that BC may be profiting but thats only by default, this city loves to support teams through thick and thin.

Re: Should Bryan Colangelo be Fired
I can not believe some of the posters here want to give this guy more chances. The Landry Fields disaster of a signing was the last straw, and i posted back in the summer that he should be fired immediately after the signing. Some posters took offence to that suggestion and started insulting me and said give Fields a chance since he can be our "glue guy". I know he is injured, but that signing was ridiculous since the Knicks were only offering him a two year deal at 3 M a year. 7 years is enough time. Him and his yes men all need to be terminated at the end of the year. Casey and the entire coaching staff can go to. Had enough of his pathetic rotations.

Think about what you wrote.
Then think about what his issues were on the court, and how that injury could have impacted his game.
Then think about things like.. Where he was on the court when the ball was not in his hands. Think about his positioning on defence.
Then think about the length of the contract... If he is really really bad, in year three he is a nice sized expiring contract.
Now, tell me how do you feel after thinking about each of these for a few moments. Don't knee jerk it, think it through considering as many factors and both sides of the situation, then..and only then come to a conclusion.
