The Rico Hines looked good for him...didn't see the mid-range jumper,
but to be able to hit the open jumper and step-back 3, looks good

If he can do those consistently, that's a 20 PPG/8/5 guy

LOL, that's a big ask for a growing 20 year old - give it time :)

Scottie is built like Dwight Howard with the broad shoulders / thick build, but he actually has perimeter skills. If he ever puts it altogether, we're going to be hanging more banners.

Few things that caught my attention from his trainer's interview:

-Scottie has an old wrist injury that impedes his shooting motion and the trainer has been working on improving it so he can get the proper wrist snap on his shots and have the ball come off his middle finger.
-The trainer says Scottie has A LOT more to show than what he's actually shown in games so far.
-he's gonna be a lot more offensively aggressive this upcoming season.
-the host asked for Scottie's actual current height but the trainer had no idea.

man, this board will be a war zone if Barnes doesn't get enough touches. This guy looks like a major problem and is putting in the work.

I guess that is the typical juvenile response to expect from this board.

After preseason last year, I thought Scottie would lead the team in assists. When it became apparent he wasn’t ready for that type of role and the team was focusing on developing other aspects of his game, I changed my expectations.

What is the point of throwing a tantrum like a little child on a message board because Nurse, one of the objectively best basketball minds in the world disagrees with your development strategy for Scottie Barnes who he has already coached to win the ROY award? And then hating his teammates in your “favourite team” for holding the ball or shooting more than Scottie just because they are executing what that world class coach is telling them to execute?

not sure what you are waffling about but the reality is that these discussions will take place here.

One part of the fandom will shout trust the process, Freddy Allstar and the other side will shout pecking order.

We all know that it will happen. I'm not heavily on either side of this although Barnes will need an increased role but prepare for a hostile board if it's not going the way people want it to go.

That is exactly the type of spoiled toddler tantrums I expect to see.

The forum response is even worse when you consider one of the loudest proponents of Barnes being more aggressive was Nurse himself.

People forget that Barnes is deferential by nature. He'll do what's best for the team, even if it meant something like his FSU role.

He'll obviously continue to become more prominent in the offense over time, but people have their own weird ideas of what that looks like.

Scottie's first step is nothing impressive, rather slow. He shares an agent with Luka, wish he'd workout with Luka when he's not with Slovenian national team instead of hanging out with the rest of the Raptors.

It's going to be hilarious to see the team's record be something like 40-27 and people calling for Pascal and Fred to be traded because Scottie isn't getting enough touches. so we can be a tanking team with Scottie avergaing 25-10-7

Scottie is an above average NBA athlete.
He's strong and a good jumper, but isn't explosive esp first step and laterally.

Still, he has a great feel for the game

Point guard or initiating the offence? Typically we have 2-3 ball handlers on the floor at any point in time to give multiple options to initiate with advantage.

Barnes will see his USG% increase from 19% last year as FVV slides more into an off-ball and shooting-heavy role. Any time that Pascal or Barnes are initating the offence, they're going to be drawing help defenders and creating space on the perimeter. In the Rico Hines runs (not a great measure), Barnes was getting anything he wanted -- inside or perimeter -- so expect the help defenders will be coming for him this year. Like Pascal a few years ago, Barnes will go through the learning curve.

That 3pointer is looking way better, and his handle looks a lot tighter. He's out there playing with vets and he still looks physically dominant.

his shot looks similar to last year but more confident
hopefully it means opponents can't sag off him
