We basically trade everyone outside those two for a major upgrade at one of the 3 remaining positions.

Trades dont go on trees.

Trades of "2 of Bargs/Ed/Amir for a SF or PG" will not be easy ones.
Also they wont be young players your getting in return.

I would be fine sporting Val/AD/Bargs/DD/Jose

Yeah, I'm with you on that. James Harden, to me, would be the quintessential SG in that he can both score and pass in the pick-'n-roll with Davis and Valanciunas. Maybe, Eric Gordon would be another guy, if he checks out fine health-wise?

Well that means we would be trading Ed and Amir, which is exactly what i meant by trading two of Bargs/Ed/Amir. I agree that keeping bargs would be the best from all three, especially since he continues to improve.

Amir and Ed might be hard to move, but I think if next year we are really trying to make a push next year, I dont think it would be such a bad thing to take back players that for example have overpaid contracts (as long as they are effective players). This will make for easier transactions, and still achieve our goals to get a pg (sign nash for example) and small forward (move ed, amir, and filler if needed for an overpaid small forward that is effective such as granger)

The first priority with all those bigs would be to use the assets to acquire a great PG. I think we'd have to deal both Amir and Ed at first... if we could get a good young PG for Bargs, I'd rather do that instead... he'd probably be able to net us someone pretty good at that position. Possibly someone like Rondo or Curry.

After PG, we need to sign or trade for a legit starting SF in this league. There are a few decent 3's in this FA crop... possibly someone like Jeff Green..

I am not sure Barnes is the exact thing at the 3. I see James Johnson as a better fit (without trying to do too much, and capable of making range shots).

Again, everyone think we need another scorer, but when our PG and SG are getting 15 FGA each, there is not many left, particularly we have Jonas and Bargnani with at least 12 FGA each, then your SF and 6th man left with 8 FGA each?

The Raptors need a wing who can be a weakside safety valve when the ball is coming out of a drive-and-kick or double-team in the post. And since the Raptors have no reliable outside shooting threat besides Bargnani at this point, Barnes would easily step right in filling that need. I mean, as great as a utility guy James Johnson is, it's better to have a guy like Barnes who can shoot the ball lights out while giving some solid rebounding and defense at the same time than a guy who does everything just solid.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Jose Calderon, Leandro Barbosa and Linas Klieza apparently don't count? Hell even Jerryd is having a good year hitting 3 pointers.

I can't see us getting Davis but I think one of MKG or Barnes are realistic and I think both would be great additions.

On a side note, it could be a good year for Canadians with the following guys projected to be at least 1st or 2nd round picks. (Joseph, Kabongo, Sacre, Nicholson)...anyone else?

Holy ****, he is. He needs to go back for a fifth-year. The games I saw him in he's not as polished in as he should be for a senior. He's definitely not Nicholson who has a refined game.

Scenario:

Picking 6th, Davis, Drummond, Barnes, MKG, Beal are off the board.

Take PJ3 and try to flip one of (PJ, AJ, ED, AB), or look to trade up for one of the aforementioned prospects, or trade the pick plus change for an upgrade at PG.

Seeing PJ3 play over the last 3 games has made it a bit more clear that he plays better as a PF. I can see the Bosh comparisons now, but I think he's a fair bit faster.
