DeRozan, Amir

for

Monroe, KCP, Charlie V

Why for Toronto? We cash in on DeRozan for a prospect, an expiring, and the chance to re-sign Monroe.

Why for Detroit? They downgrade slightly at PF to upgrade at SG, but likely do not want to commit big money to Monroe. They can continue playing Smoove at the 3, or use Amir off the bench and start Smoove at his more natural 4 alongside Singler at the 3 for much needed spacing.

If I'm Detroit, I might not even give you Monroe for Derozan, let alone both Monroe and Caldwell-Pope.

I'd do it with my eyes closed. I don't think the Bobcats will be giving that pick up for Gay. Maybe Biyombo and Gordon for Gay is more realistic.

I like the Biyombo piece. I don't think you'll get much more than what we gave up last year with an expiring (Calderon) & a high-mid 1st rounder (Davis). If you can coax that Portland pick from them I think it's a no brainer

We won't get a first so we are salvaging Biyombo for Ed Davis. BC gives leaves us a in a position to make a lateral move and we salvage some youth and a Gay tank rental. I'm down for that. Next.

To DET: Gay

To TOR: Water Bottles

Now hear me out, I legitimately think our problem revolves around hydration. I don't actually believe our players are fat, I just think they are bloated from the lack of fluids. I also believe this to be a contributing factor to Gay's low field goal percentage and lack of passing as he is hallucinating (believes players are cheering him on, and telling him to shoot). Premium water bottles are an undervalued factor in this league that should be taking more seriously. That's just my two cents.

If he can only get 4/40 he likely opts in though since the extra 3 years are only at 7 per, barely above MLE.

No way that happens. Gay will make over 20 Million next season. That's too much money to walk away from.

Put yourself in his shoes. I definitely would tell Masai to f*** off because I want to cash in that 20 million

He can get his 'security' with an multi year MLE deal after with another team

Demar and Lowry

for

Boozer + Bobcats pick + Bulls pick

Bulls get a Lowry rental who can slot right into their D. Demar provides the scoring option they need now and when D-rose gets back, and he fits pretty well with Deng, and Butler too. Bulls save money (i think), and get to continue "contending" in the East - ie, they'd be better than the Hawks. Demar gets to the playoffs.

Raps overstock at the 4, stockpile contracts expiring in '15, tank hard at the point of attack, get much closer to ensuring a top 6 pick, and pick up two additional picks that should be non-lotto (or delayed in the case of the Cats) but solid in a deep draft year.

I like the idea of getting cap space the summer following the tanking/drafting of a "star". That way you just have so many options. If you're great with the rookie star you have some lustre in the eyes of eyes of free agents. If he/we are not quite ready you can defer the space and hit the lotto again. I wouldn't at all surprised if we followed this route, with Rudy expiring in 2015.

Stone/Buycks
Ross
Rudy
Amir/Booz/Acy
Val/Hans

The following year

Smart
Ross/Selden
Rudy/James Young (I've yet to watch these youngsters play so it's a bit like pulling out of a hat but you get the idea)
Boozer/Amir/Acy
Jonas/Hans

That might be a second tank (Go Rudy!), followed by epic cap space. What do you think?

That's essentially what I said, BUT if he gets hurt next year it could all disappear. So guaranteeing 40 mill is still better than just guaranteeing 20 mill. But I think if his agent tells him he can get 4/46+ then that is the number that really seals him opting out.

If he thinks his market value is less then he probably gambles on just taking the option and staying healthy. He would make more longer term.

In a pure tank job why would we not just shell Gay out to Detroit for pure expiring deals. I would love KCP + expirings, but can we be so lucky? Maybe we can.

Getting Monroe in a DD deal doesn't enforce a tank, it gives the team a new direction to go in and forces more MPG at the 2 for Ross. To me if your going to 'GO FOR IT" then we try and get Monroe and dare I say, Gordon Hayward...and maybe be this very interesting, young team. If your blowing it up your dealing Gay for pure expirings from Detroit and KCP and dumping DD to anyone...maybe PHX for Frye and 2015 pick?

Going for it moves:
A. (Detroit) DeRozan + Gray for G. Monroe (would they really ever do this?)
B. (Utah) Gay, 2014 pick for Biedrins, M. Williams, G. Hayward

Tank job
A. (Detroit) Gay for CV, Stuckey, KCP
B. (Phoenix) DeRozan for Frye, Green - 2015 top 3 protected pick

Tank job seems a lot smarter

This is what should happen, but who knows what will happen...

Gay to Detroit for Villanueva and Stuckey OR Gay to BKN for Pierce

Toronto gets expirings and Detroit moves Smith to Power Forward. They also get to keep Monroe for a separate deal if they really want to trade him. In the case of Brooklyn, they're all in so they might as well trade an injured, struggling Pierce. Basically, the idea is to get the expirings back for Toronto.

DeRozan, Fields and Johnson to New York for Stoudamire, Hardaway Jr. and Shumpert

Toronto cuts 2 years off DeRozan's deal and basically deals with one year of Amar'e before he comes off the books as well. New York gets rid of Amare's deal by including some youngsters and basically improve both their starting lineup and bench. Felton/DeRozan/Anthony/Bargnani/Chandler with Johnson and JR off the bench.

...After all this you just send Lowry away with Novak for something and the longest deals you'll have on the books are Ross, Hardaway and JV. Once Amare expires you'd literally be left with around 6 million on your cap and only 3 guys on the roster if you let everyone expire (not counting any rookies or signings we'd make this year).

Questions:

1) Why would Indiana want Ben Gordon? And give up their starting point guard at the same time?
2) Suns are tanking/rebuilding. They aren' giving away 1st round picks
3) Minnesota JUST drafted Muhammad. What's the need for Lowry? So he can whine and moan about being a back-up? Or so they can watch him leave at the end of the season?

Would love Bledsoe on our team but I don't see the Suns letting him walk easily. They'll probably match any contract he gets

1. Chicago - Hinrich and Snell for Lowry

That's an easy deal that nets us a young player in Snell for Lowry, while making us much worse for the rest of this season. Tank baby tank.

Hinrich Augustin Buycks
DeRozan Ross Fields
Gay Snell Daye
Hansbrough Acy Novak
Valanciunas Johnson Gray

I don't agree, Lowry and Gay are not long term solutions while MKG could be a staple to a contending team for years

Well I guess we'll agree to disagree here because obviously the difference in opinion here comes from the potential of Kidd-Gilchrist. I just don't think, actually never have thought, that he's going to be very good. So limited offensively (not sure if the potential to get better is really there) and that will really hold him back from being a key cog or a "staple" on any contender. He rebounds and defends well though, I can definitely give him that.

I see him more of a rotation guy...like a SF version of Tony Allen but nothing much more than that.

Hill and Granger is a) not fair value wise and b) the salaries do not work anyways.
