No, Sabonis is not worth 2 FRP and GTJ is our only shot creator. Og too slow to play sg imo

In general I think we need more shooting and also more athletes. Have to keep GTJ and add a dude with hops

True that, tbh I don't want og to get traded, because in my believe we have to care about our culture and core from the lowry/ddr/kawhi co. Era, but we don't have much valuable assets and the wing positions are stacked with the "big 3" (not that Big 3). Og's value should be very high, and I think some contending/play in teams have a need at the wings. We easily would get back a FRP, some talent and real nba rotation player/s to make the salary work.

But if the goal is to end up with Bamba and a streaking shooter with a contract for next season maybe we cut out a lot of the middle men and deal directly with Orlando for Ross?

Personally I way prefer Caris to Ross. Caris can play backup PG and initiate offence. Ross is strictly a shooter.

Ross offers you a little something on the wing, but I can understand us having more a need for a combo guard like LeVert.

Just for clarity, how many picks do you have outbound for the Raps? I wasn't quite sure if Indy was ending up with ours or not?

We give up one first to Indiana. Indiana gives up Miami's second and Dallas gives up a 2nd.

What would it take to get Josh Hart? He could help our bench a lot

I think ORL says no. Think they're going to need at least 1FRP back

This has been the back and forth on the trade board as well;

For a pair of seconds I would consider it, but for us to have to deal an FRP to get Ross on a good but not great contract for one more season and the right to pay Bamba this summer likely somewhere in the eight figures doesnt hold a ton of appeal to me.

been lurking this site everyday at work for about 10 years, finally made an account,lol. masai prob wont do anything big at trade deadline, maybe shed some salary get rid of dragic for peanuts. i still dont know the direction of the team for this year, are we gonna tank to get another stud along scottie or are we gonna push to make 5th 6th and get knocked out first round??? anyways my trade proposal is this...
dragic,boucher and a protected top 10 first rounder for mo bamba and terrence ross. mo is a legit 7 footer with 2 blocks per game shooting around 30% from 3 (he'll improve) 12 points 8 rebounds, gives us that big scary intinmating center this team needs, and ross gives us solid bench production (if he keeps his turnovers down)
bamba is a free agent at end of year so thats something the front office has to figure out but if they do then this is a solid get for the raps, for this year and years to come.

If we took Ross' bad year to get Bamba in a Dragic deal, it would give Orlando about 38M in cap room, but it's hard to see them having a real plan to spend it unless they really think they could max out Miles Bridges or Ayton which I think is like 4 years 120? Would the Hornets and Suns match those?

First off welcome!

I like the framework of the deal;
My general thinking is that we don't need to include Boucher, he is 28 doesn't fit with the age timeline and going to be a UFA, and the Magic are already committed long term to WCJ and Isaac. My feeling is Orlando does it solely for draft capital if they make a move at all.

The easiest way to do this and stay under the tax for Toronto is:

Dragic (19.5m)
Bonga (1.5m)
ASSETS

For

Ross (12.5m)
Bamba (7.5m)

It gives Toronto another 1m under the tax threshold if you decide you want to keep DJ Wilson or sign someone else this season.

But there are a few X Factors in this transaction to consider:

1) Bamba: Does Orlando have intention of keeping him at a contract that will likely be 3 - 4 years in and around the entire MLE this summer? Or is there a further risk of a team with more capspace than brains spending more to try and snatch him via an offer sheet?

Do we want to give up assets to sign a guy who *MAY* get better than what he shown over the last 3.5 seasons which aside from the start of the season hasn't been overly spectacular

2) Ross: Does Orlando have an interest in clearing off that salary? It will give them an ocean of space this summer but are they really in a position to be making a major signing or is having Ross in the locker room on a slightly more than MLE contract worth more to them than to the open market?

3) Toronto's cap situation
Assuming everything remains the same and we re-sign none of our free agents we walk into summer a few bucks above the cap but around 30m from the tax. You add Ross @ 12.5m we are 17.5m from the tax, you sign your FRP (assuming you keep the pick) now you are at 14.5m.

You have 14.5m to resolve Bamba via his RFA status and then sign whoever you need to fill out the balance of the roster using whatever portion of the MLE is available after you sign Bamba to X per season.

Yeah, they don’t make that trade. Younger with more upside has more value.

If it costs anything more than our poo poo platter of Dragic, Flynn, Boucher, we're better off moving on. Though Boucher has been raising his stock alot.

Not a fan on trading a 1st round pick in improving the bench.... Just don't see this team being in that position to do so.

Yeah, Murray is their guy. I think a Spurs-Raptors trade would involve Poeltl and or Derrick White.
