Fredette has a good head for the game. I think that'd help him translate to PG

I think the combination of his shooting (meaning defenders can't go under the screen) and an overall awesome ability to score driving into traffic and using his strength effectively, will make him a nice threat from the position. If old Billups can still drive and dish well I think Fredette can

It's definitely a case where I'd like to see him working out and playing like a true PG. But he's in the mix for me at 5-7. I think a lot of his criticisms are similar to Curry's

My big board

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Jared Sullinger
3. Perry Jones III
4. Derrick Williams
5. Enes Kanter
6. Harrison Barnes
7. Jimmer Fredette
8. Jonas Valanciunas
9. Jan Vesely
10. Terrence Jones
11. Brandon Knight
12. John Henson
13. Alec Burks
14. Nikola Mirotic

I'll be interested to see if there's more Sullinger debates if we land in his range. Would be very inconvienient with Davis and Amir but generally BPA is how drafting teams succeed. If Sullinger turned into a 20/11 big we wouldn't regret it

I don't know why, but I just don't see Colangelo drafting Fredette. He does fit his offense first philosophy, but I expect him to take one of the 2 centers more than anyone else. Or Williams only if he finally considers trading Bargnani. I'm assuming Irving and Jones will be gone when we pick. Barnes is a possibility if he has a great March, or Vesely if he wows everyone in workouts. My biggest concern is that whoever we pick will be a weak defender. This team needs to start finding some 2 way players and there don't seem to be many available as far as the top guys are concerned.

if we picked fredette i'd puke all over myself and become a pistons fan

We are getting a top 8 pick basically guaranteed.

This is what our draft board should look like:

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Perry Jones
3. Derrick Williams
4. Harrison Barnes
5. Terrence Jones
6. Enes Kanter
7. Jonas Valaciunas
8. Jared Sullinger

If we drop to 8 and forced to pick sullinger that would suck cuz hes going to flop in the NBA hes going to be Boris Diaw-Fat by his sophomore season

Kyrie is the only way we greatly improve.

I really like Harrison Barnes for the long term but hes going to suck for his first couple seasons.

I guess I need to watch me some Derrick Williams. Really want to try to see if he can play the 3.

Here's Ford's Insider comment on Williams today:
1. Derrick Williams, F, Arizona Wildcats
The Good: Williams is, along with Kenneth Faried, the most efficient player in college basketball. He's a proven low-post scoring threat, especially off the dribble. But he's added a killer 3-point shot to his arsenal this season. (He's shooting an insane 60 percent from 3.)

The Bad: Not much. He's a bit of a tweener. He's going to have to be a 3 in the NBA. He's a solid athlete, but not an elite one.

The Upside: Williams was not a blue-chip recruit coming out of high school, which means the NBA has been a little slow on the uptake. But not anymore. Every NBA team I've spoken with has him in the top five on their board. While no one thinks he'll be a superstar, they think he's going to be a terrific pro in an otherwise so-so draft.

Derrick Williams is nice...

I see him being like a more dedicated/less athletic Michael Beasley

Jimmer is everything that's right about March Madness, but drafting him would be like buying a leather jacket at Planet Hollywood. Just leave the good times there, bro.

I've said it in other places, but Williams reminds me of Shawn Marion.

Thanks, dagger. I really want to get a feel for his ball-handling and lateral quicks. I trust in the percentages for his offensive game, just want to be assured that he isn't frightening defensively and can somewhat create for himself off the bounce from the wing.

Jimmer wants to play for the Knicks

Jimmer Fredette is projected as a lottery pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

Having grown up in upstate New York, Fredette's ideal NBA landing spot would be New York City, according to his older brother T.J.

"We want him to go to the Knicks," T.J. told the Inquirer. "That's our team."

The Houston Rockets can swap first round picks with the Knicks in the 2011 draft so long as New York's
1st round pick is not the 1st overall selection.

I'd take both Barnes and Williams over TJones.

Something about him makes me think he's going to struggle in the NBA. He's being compared to Odom BUT Lamar is still big in the NBA for a SF. Terrence seems like a good size now but in the NBA he'll be nothing special and I don't think he has the handles to be an elite SF in the league. With Williams he appears to have good size and strength that could make him hard to deal with and my pick, Barnes has a great shot which I think would be great to space out the floor better for DeMar. If we could flip Amir or Ed (praying it''s Amir) for Rubio then this would be the most excited I would be as a Rap fan since VC/TMac days.

Rubio/DeMar/Barnes/Davis/even Bargnani (preferably not) and I'm amped up for next year!

+1, why do we need another Julian Wright/James Johnson.

Kenneth Faried.. (Prospect)

Post#1359 » by number15 » Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:37 pm

this was written before the James Johnson trade.... to bad we have no 2nd rounder or low first rounder, which is like what was needed
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now comes the fun part. I think with the pick they have acquired from Miami the Raptors should draft Kenneth Faried from Morehead State. For those of you who don’t know anything about Faried - and I suspect there are some of you – please read the link. He led the NCAA in rebounding last year and is doing so this season as well. He is compared to Dennis Rodman – on the court only, not for being crazy – for his all-out effort and desire to rebound the ball. He is a little undersized to play the four, but so was Rodman. He averages more than 2 steals and 2 blocks a game.

The Raptors need a player like Faried. A player who plays hard on defense, who makes his opponent work and wants to rebound. Think of what everyone likes about Reggie Evans and then think of a younger player who can score better and can defend the three and four.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

its riskier than James Johnson, but possibly a young cheaper Reggie Evans.... much bigger reward for risk

Why are people taking about Jimmer Freddette? Really? We're going to have a top 6 or 7 pick AT THE WORST and Jimmer shouldn't sniff being drafted anywhere near that.

I hate cluttering up this thread talking about guys like that.

Anyway, glad to see people jumping back on the Barnes bandwagon. I know some people declared him a bust early and it's hard for them to change their opinion but this kid is going to be one of the best players in the draft. Sure, there's players who've had better seasons but when making a long term prediction I don't see too many players better than him.

1. Irving
2. Barnes
3. Jones (if he's an NBA SF)
4. Jonas V
5. Kanter (if his knees check out)

Trade bait:

Sullinger
D Will
K Walker
T Jones
