OG is an elite 3 and D player. Why are we posting about his pull ups and isolations? Lol

The guy who's posting this is clearly not understanding why teams want him and you're better than this having watched him here for years.

He has a long enough sample size to show that he can hit the 3 at a very good clip and has shot over 40% before. That's playing on a clunky offensive system team. As a role player OG is a better player overall for a team that already has established offensive players. If they needed scoring from him in those type of scenarios they're looking at the wrong player.

I think it becomes very relevant if the rumours that he’s unhappy with his role turn out to be true.

Ayton fits that timeline at age 24 and positionally at Center :)

Let's put it this way when talking about Ayton. Fred has 27 credited blocks this season. Ayton has 31... :noway:

Ouch lol. I always thought he was a good defender on the perimeter (for a Center) but have not watched him enough to know about his rim defending skills.

At least he's great on the boards, which is an underrated component of defense and would help us immensely there since we suck at it.

I haven't watched a tonne of Ayton, but he's a positional, two hands in the air defender. NOT a high volatility block chaser.

Back in the day, the PG would give a defensive player a post touch to keep him motivated. OG doesn't get that many ISO attempts to be concerned about.

I honestly know nothing about the young players on the Pelicans so the picks are more attractive to me. But yeah, all depends. Why would a team give up a promising young player in the first place? But there’s always a diamond in the rough (Precious, Powell)
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Multiple league insiders told The Times-Picayune that the Raptors’ preference is to get back young players in any deal for Anunoby as opposed to picks. The Pelicans are armed with both of those things. Dyson Daniels, Jones and Naji Marshall are all homegrown talent on team-friendly deals. Plus, the Pelicans own the rights to all of their own first-round picks in the next five years in addition to the 2024 Los Angeles Lakers first that can be deferred until 2025 and a 2027 Milwaukee Bucks first.

Looks like MU is trying to retool if this report is true.

good. this is exactly what he should be doing. picks in 2027 do us no good now.

we need young guys now to develop alongside scottie/precious. that's our timeline.

I mean, in three years when we're hopefully closer to contending, those picks could be gold in making moves for a superstar to put us over the top

The young players we get back now will be the reason why we are contending in the first place though.

consider that it may take 2/3/4 years for those guys to really develop into contributors. So a 2029 pick only comes really good in what? 2032? that's like ten years from now when scottie will be pascal/fred's age. we need to prioritise the near-term, not the far-off imo.

Fred's near term return value will likely be something that is closer to the MLE level type of asset (we're talking the Terence Mann's of the world, right?), and easier to replace.

A 30 yo Barnes is still right in the middle of his prime, and that's the type of potential asset that could continue or jump start a new contention streak as a trade chip (or keep Barnes around and avoiding a KG/AD situation). As long as ownership doesn't fool themselves into thinking a James Wiseman will be the key to a new era.

The upside of the near term just isn't that great in comparison. OG might fetch more interesting near term stuff (but I'd still mix in some long).

Nah, I think my timeline is right. Trade for the pick in 2023, wait three years of development and growth, and the 2027 pick I mentioned can be used as trade bait to support the core we've built!

Young players aren't going to help the Pelicans win games. OG will. The picks won't be as good as Trey Murphy and/or Dyson Daniels. They are worth far less. It's far better to get young players in return than the mystery box that are picks.

Daniels, Lewis Jr. Graham and the LAL '23 pick is the golden package for me.

NO should do that deal. They get the best defensive wing in the game for 1.5 yrs. OG's value heightens in the playoffs too when teams go small. Also helps out Zion when he goes down.

McCollum
BI
OG
Zion
JV

Then when JV doesnt have matchup:

Mcollum
Trey
BI
Zion
OG

I personally would want Trey if we are dealing OG but dont think Griffin would
