I just wish Scottie could show a bit more offensive game. Even in these runs he is mainly just passing the ball. I know there aren't a lot of summer time highlights, but even in watching his film the past season he is at his best distributing and not being a scorer.

Can we afford him to be a slightly better Ben Simmons? Am I overreacting or is this what we should expect?

To me, Scottie looks like 20/8/8 type of scorer. Post-NY trade his numbers dipped to 18/7/6 so to think he will have an uptick with the same core is wishful thinking unless Darko force feeds him on offense.

I think that kind of average is way too low for any franchise player and now we are paying him significant money. Something seems off about the strategy given we have guys like Luka, GIannis, Joker, Embiid, Lebron who can average over 30 and do all the distributing you want.

I don't think Scottie is going to be an alpha scorer, he's naturally a pass first guy. I think he's going to be a guy who can give you 22/8/8 on a nightly basis with 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. He's probably the closest thing to Scottie Pippen the league has seen since... Scottie Pippen. He's a complete unicorn in the sense he does so many things at an elite level.

Thing is IQ and RJ show the ability to take over games, and allow Scottie to be Scottie.

What ultimately matters is if the game is close and you need to score, will Barnes produce that bucket.

Also being a 22/8/8 player won't matter as much in the playoffs.

For example in 2004 Nash averaged 15.5 points. In the playoffs he averaged 23.9 points.

in 2019 Jokic averaged 19.9 ppg, in the playoffs he averaged 24.4 ppg.

Essentially when push comes to shove, can Barnes take over?

Scottie may not have the mentality to score 30 and dominate the whole game but I have zero doubts in my mind that end of the game and you need a bucket he isn't running from that moment

That's a great question. So far, everything that I've seen of him this summer hasn't been directly about "his guys" recording him for social media. He may just really be in the gym a lot? Regardless, I've heard of IQ being a gym rat, and he's said it himself since he's been traded to the Raptors. It's great to see that he's not just talking the talk. IQ has received a big contract, and if he's able to live up to it, or exceed it, then he'll continue to be a fan favourite.
