You're pissed because a lot of people don't know much about him or have never even heard of him, that doesn't mean other teams don't know him either. All it takes is one other team to have a draft competitor. The fact that he was kept secret to the media and a lot of other teams is pretty damn amazing.

It wasn't Raptor fans or the Raptor's management who reported that the pick might be taken by two teams in the first round either.

Not really sure why it's high risk. It's only high risk if the guys after him have huge ceiling's and a better chance to get there, while Cablocko has a low chance to hit his ceiling. I mean, I'm not too worried about Rodney Hood.

I love the potential but hate the wait that leads up to hopefully fulfilling that potential.

I kind of like the wait. I don't know if you're old enough to remember the rawness of T Mac in his rookie year. He never saw the floor, but just watching him in warm ups you could see he was on another level athletically. Watching him develop from a teenage athlete into a phenomenal basketball player right before my eyes was a lot of fun. Should be fun again this time.

My only hope is all you dumb dumbs who are bashing this pick don't change your usernames so I can make fun of you for how wrong you were.

Here's a good rule of thumb: don't be overly critical, or overly assured of something you may be wrong about. It is much harder to admit you were wrong after saying "masai is an idiot wtf!!!!". Say Bruno turns out great. At the very least you have to say "I was tremendously wrong" and at the worst you have to keep finding increasingly illogical ways to back up your original point because you have too much pride to just say you were wrong (Danchan).

can someone verify this -

in the masai presser last night, he said they would look to have him play in the D league or Europe next year.
As it has already been stated that he will at summer league, people are assuming that he will start his contract.

It seems more likely however that Bruno won't start his contract and the Raptors will "Grant Jarrett" him and select him in the d league draft to control his development.

Most of those "pros" just watch DX videos. Bill Simmons and Jalen rose in particular.

I am curious to see what his growth patterns are. He already has plus athleticism, and as he grows into that body and becomes more comfortable one can only imagine his lateral quickness and ability to uncoil his legs will get better, he could be a frightening defensive player. I mean absolutely terrifying.

His athleticism (relative to size) and body composition are clearly his most projectable attributes. One thing in this regard that I find especially promising is the appearance of his lower body.

It is hard to find images at the moment, but I just put those side by side for a basic idea. If you watch the videos, to me he seems to have a stronger base. Giannis' lower body looks like he will always have wiry strength, but not necessarily a low center of gravity. Bruno's body type appears to have stronger potential to fill out.

His secondary asset to me is the off and on again shot mechanics. As a young 18 year old coming out of Brazil, his shot mechanics are inconsistent, but I have noticed a few releases in the videos that project as a plus asset.

Beautiful mechanics. Incredibly high release point, virtually impossible to block. Also has a gorgeous arc and cookie jar release which makes the ball drop like a feather. Inconsistent? Of course. But the rudimentary knowledge is there and the beginnings of an exceptional jumper are in the making.

Most importantly, knowing Masai this kid is high character and is hungry. We have to keep in mind Masai volunteered as a scout and was virtually broke coming over from Nigeria to break into the league. I'm sure his own narrative and experiences have shaped what he values.

I am extremely excited to see what this kid can become.
