Even without all this legal stuff, Shannon is an old prospect. He's going to be 24 next month.

I'm not a fan of drafting anyone that can't shoot already honestly, unless they a clear project with great upside

With the ongoing news of guys potentially jumping high on the board and potentially into the lottery (Ware, Carrington, Holmes, etc.) I'd be even more inclined to just stand pat and see what prospect lands on our lap at 19 and even 31. It seems there will be a lot of fallers, just got to pick off the right one.
I'm with you. I think teams ahead of us are running a real risk of overthinking things, so real talent has a chance to fall on draft night (e.g., I see scenarios where one or more of Holland, Collier, Topic, Dillingham, or McCain fall). The only concern is whether our front office does the same. They've been known to be a capitalize on this phenomenon (e.g. OG), but have also completely overthought things as well. Sometimes that works (e.g. Pascal, Barnes), sometimes it doesn't (e.g., Bruno, Deandre Daniels, picking Dewan Hernandez instead of Lu Dort). Fingers crossed.
The hilarity of bringing up #59 pick Dewan Hernandez is incredible

We’re still not drafting him. You know what the Toronto media and Twitter fans are like.

If Sarr were to drop to 3, how would y'all feel about parting with the Pacers 26 pick and 19 to move up (assuming such a deal would be accepted by Houston/if a 3 teamer would work)?

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 5
19. Toronto Raptors – SG/SF Johnny Furphy – Kansas
Pairing Gradey Dick and Johnny Furphy with one another gives the Toronto Raptors two solid athletes on the perimeter who can both become three-point shooting threats on a nightly basis. However, the Raptors may take this opportunity to target depth for their frontcourt next to Kelly Olynyk and Jakob Poeltl. There is still no telling what Masai Ujiri and the Raptors' front office have planned this offseason.

We don’t own the Pacers pick.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 5
I think I understand why teams would hesitate on Dillingham because I actually hadn't noticed it before. Here are his measurements:
6'1 without shoes
6'3 wingspan
164 lbs
I actually did a double take on the weight. I think the only guy I can think of playing at that height and weight is Trae Young. Even Dennis Schroeder is about 175 lbs which is 10 lbs heavier. Those two both play high level PG as in running the offense and making difficult passes and reads. Dillingham is more like a gunner with some passing skill but you know his first instinct is to shoot.
Another guy I thought of as a similar player type for Dillingham, De'Aaron Fox. He is a couple inches taller and 185 lbs. Can Dillingham add 20 lbs in a few years?
I think if Dillingham falls it is because people don't trust his size. It is just tough to start in the NBA and be a small PG, unless you have outlier skills.

Warming up to trading Poeltl for Edey and Brandon Clarke. Edey is a lob threat and hits his FT's unlike Poeltl.
Memphis would probably not want to wait 2-3 years for Edey to hit his stride.
Edey has gravity. I guess only starting basketball 5 years ago, he's come along way.

2026 first round draft pick from Indiana
Indiana's 1st round pick to Toronto protected for selections 1-4 in 2026 and 1-4 in 2027; if Indiana has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Toronto by 2027, then Indiana will instead convey Utah's 2027 2nd round pick and Dallas' 2028 2nd round pick to Toronto [Indiana-Toronto, 1/17/2024]

My fault, I was thinking for this season. I’m not sure it gets you into the top 3 anyways, even this year. That pick will likely be outside the lottery.

If Utah passes on him at 10, I can see him sliding to 13. Sac would take him

Sacramento probably takes Dillingham as a Malik Monk replacement

Lol. I admit that i may be a little too invested in the draft. That said, I remember following that draft closely and being excited as Dort fell in the draft (he was projected as an early second rounder if I'm not mistaken and had NBA player written all over him), only to be annoyed when we passed on him to take a meh prospect that hadn't played in over a year.

Damn, so we’re trading out completely. I wonder who the target is.
