No I don't mean on this team as it stands now. This roster is obviously not complete and neither Derozan or Bargnani are number one option type talents. What I mean is we need to draft a true number one option because this team obviously does not have that at this moment.

I agree.
This roaster is at least 2 players away from competing...Jova & next year draft +

Word. With Val and Ed Davis we are going to be a force down low on defense and on the boards. If we can work out the scoring aspect we'll be fine 3 years from now and in the playoffs consistently if we can keep the team together. I like our future.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

-Bargnani rebounded and was solid on D. Offensively he went 4-14, but got to the line consistently. As I've been saying, Casey is the perfect coach for him.
-Demar showed off his 3 going 2-2, but otherwise looked overfocused and didn't play well.
-Ed Davis looks jacked! he was a beast, and was outplaying KG when he was on the floor.
-Amir didn't play much
-Gray is a guy who is solid but you don't notice, but his legit center size I think helped out Ed and Bargs.

And for thos esaying we got beaten by scrubs, we were playing the regulars close until the final 5 minutes, and then weren't able to claw back against the scrubs.

All in all, my first star is Dwane Casey!

Andrea wont struggle with his shot alot, and once our offense gets the full play book in, and adjusted to both that and the players in new positions His O will be solid. His D rebounding and effort were miles better then in years past. Well see if he can keep it up.
DDs stroke has allways been clean, he indeed seems to have gained confidence in it. If he can be solid with just catch and shoots itll open alot more for him.
Ed brought great energy, but seemed a bit soft early allowing some lay ups and such. Really turned it around though. And considering this is his first TC and pre season and its very shortened he's doing well. That plus a short season of crunched sched and not playing a full season last year its going to be tough for him to be consistant.
Amir looked really good in the limited action, I think we could see fairly heavy minutes from him so we have to balance not burning him out with getting him used to centre play in the nba.
Aaron isnt flashy, but he showed some nice bb iq, strong positioning and great vision a few times. Really liking his signing.

I dont know what game you guys were watching but Bargnani still looked asleep on the floor and had no idea what was going on. Most of his rebounds fell into his hands without attempting it.

Starting Lineup of this team should be

Bayless/Forbes/DeRozan/Davis/AJohnson

Trade Bargnani will he still has "value according to BC"

One for DeRozan's layup on the break, I think it was after a blocked shot, not sure. He just drove the ball up handed to DeMar who took one dribble and layed it up.

So imagine this; our whole team is defending, boxing out, DeRozan hitting corner 3's, Bargnani continuing to play defense, Amir and Davis doing their thing, Bayless playing well, Calderon watching off the bench, except this time with Quincy Miller dropping 20ppg and making it look easy :droop:

Or Andrea plays like this pre season all year and raises his value to get us another 2012 pick. Ed plays beast and gets traded for Steph Curry (give them the pick from the Drea trade). Raptors land the #1 picck and select Drummond and JVal comes over playing like a beast ...

Seems like previous negativity has really lowered your imagination capabilities choker ;)

You must have watched it with your eyes closed then. +/- normally punishes starters unless you're on a good team, which was not the case with us. Ed Davis came off the bench. His first couple seasons Kevin Durant was a negative in +/- too.

Dude is probably wanking the same time so he prolly wasn't looking at the screen.

It would be silly to do a starting line up based on one pre season game in a shortened training camp.
Andrea was far from a sleep hedging hard on the switch then peeling inside and grabbing a board amongst traffic. He was playing hard all night.
Forbes had a couple nice passes, got one on the pass around the horn were andrea gave up a fairly clean look on calderons 3, the trail pass on the break to demar, and a nice cutter in the lane idr the other one.

I would look at potentially trying to trade our pick for a PG of the future (ideally on their rookie deal). If our defense looks significantly different from last year, I think our pick isn't likely to be quite as high as many of us would want it to be, and while the depth in this draft is pretty good, there aren't too many potential star prospects imo.

Dr Mufasa wrote:I think this is the Bargnani we're going to see all year. Much better on defense but missing a lot of shots, as has been the case when he doesn't have his energy offensively for essentially his entire career

I'm fine with this since with Bargnani there's always the potential that he'll have that one killer game to make an upset possible. I know stat guys like Boris have been pretty pessimistic about Bargnani's defence, but the truth is that we did see Bargnani play solid defence when he was playing with both JO and Bosh. Hopefully he can keep it up while having the occasional game where he goes off. We could definitely use a dynamic PG to get more easy buckets out of DD and Bargs.

Ed will never get enough PT behind Bargs and will end up leaving and being an All star elsewhere mark my words...
