Really didn't like watching this:

Still an interesting prospect, but that defense.....if you wanna call it that.....was terrible.

Really lacked any kind of defensive intensity & intelligence in that video.

Makes me sour on him a bit...

And people complain about DeRozan's defense . As much as Lamb has the physical tools and skills to be great he doesn't have the mindset to be great, that's going to be Lamb's greatest challenge to overcome. I always look at a players disposition to the game, GM's do the same when evaluating a prospect. Lamb was never really an assertive player mainly going through the motions. Yes the aesthetics are pleasing to the eye but it shouldn't be the end all be all. Just looking at that defense of his, makes me cringe. Even with Casey I'd rather not try to make his life harder by giving him more defensively inept players.

Yeah, but some of the stuff in these clips were cringe worthy. It wasn't like he was "just getting beat". Dude looked completely lost at times & didn't fight through screens at all. The effort was half azzed at best.

What would Casey think looking at these clips? Does this look like a guy he can work with?

If Casey can work with Jose, he can work with anybody.

It's one thing when you're athletically challenged to play defense, it's another when you have the athleticism and physical tools to be a great defender and not defend well. This again goes back to my point about looking at a players mindset in evaluating an NBA prospect.

I love how people who barely watched Lamb play this year and think they know it all from a single YouTube clip. Yes, Lamb wasn't the most active or engaged defender where the effort wasn't consistent, but realize what a mess UConn was. Try playing in that toxic of an environment. He was a solid defender during UConn's title run, and that's all I need to know.

I watched Lamb in multiple games both this season & last. I didn't pay attention to his defense exclusively (I was mostly impressed with his handles, shooting, fluidity), but how can a "solid" defender look like Jose Calderon or worse on so many plays?

Again, if you really did watched UConn played, look how dysfunctional of a team they were this year. Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright jacking up shots left and right and forcing the entire team to defend for their mistakes (misses) took a toll.

You mean plays from 1 clip? And it wasn't even that bad. You could easily make a clip like that for everyone in this draft.

DX:

Defensively, Lamb has the physical tools to excel, as he has good lateral quickness and instincts and is able to utilize his tremendous wingspan to cause havoc on the ball and in the passing lanes.
His energy on this end looked very inconsistent this season, however, not displaying the competitiveness, fundamentals and attention to detail that will likely be demanded from him at the NBA level, particularly off the ball.

Exactly what we saw in those clips.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with that tidbit because I already said that Lamb wasn't engaged consistently on the defensive end. BUT that was a result of how poor UConn was playing than Jeremy Lamb the player.

I agree, the defense as a whole looked completely disorganized.

Whoever created this series of clips may have been bias......who knows.

I've watched multiple clips of various prospects (defensively) & these are by far the worst.

I've been one of the biggest Lamb supporters & still think he's a good prospect, but if you watch clips of Lamb playing defense this past year & then watch clips of Barnes playing D, there is a big difference between the two.

I'll give it a go.

I have enjoyed much joviality at your expense, good sir. You've made claims to have personally viewed many of Jeremy Lamb's defensive efforts, and yet rely on the word of "experts' (from draft express) in order to back up your point in an internet thread. There's an expression about people like you, I shan't mention here.
