Yeah, that's my line of thinking as well. I could care less about another role player at the 20th pick. This team is basically built on role player talent as is. At least Masai is looking for star talent even with the 20th pick.

Only reasoning I can think of is that Masai is just trying to prove that he's the best scout in NBA history.

It has to be said again and again until people understand it, none of you are even remotely qualified to make judgements about the pick, no one should care what you have to say. Unless you have reports from scouts who have actually seen him stop pretending like you know what you're talking about.

You could have had this guy at 37 or maybe even 59 or next year.
This is why FA will never come here we have GMs that do this!

Rodney Hood a proven long wing top 5 shooter at combine is sitting there and was projected at ~15 and we get some guy that won't be ready for at least 2 years!
We are in win now mode, all the a East is stepping forward we are stepping back.
Hood needs to get stronger which is easy and better on D. Fu€K that's why you hired Casey to coach F'ing D

$hit!

TBH Hood doesn't really impress me. Only sad we could have taken Capela but who knows.

Don't take mock drafts for gospel. I am sure the scouts have more info than we do.

Apparently this guy has the same agent as the greek freak. Also he seems to have been inured the past year which can explain his lack of exposure.

My brain is just frozen over this pick.

Utter disbelief...this is unreal, we draft someone in the first round that probably wouldn't have even been drafted at all. My God all I can do is pray this is some crazy SAS type of pick and not a f*cking Araujo 2.0

How do you all guys know we could have picked this kid at 37th or 59th? Do you all have insider information from other NBA teams?

Swing for the fences my ass. This guy most definitely would have been available @ 37, taking him at 20 is such an enormous waste of value. I'm speechless.

Ive been a big Masai supporter from day 1. But this is was an inexcusable decision. So much value left on the board. Ughh so frustrated..and you know this doesnt make sway Lowry's decision.

First of all, why didn't the Raps trade down to pick him? Unless the Thunder were going to pick and stash.
This guy is "two years away from being two years away". Which means Masai must feel very comfortable with his job security to do this.

Secondly, I think this tells you the Raps are going to go "all-in" in keeping Lowry, Patterson and Vasquez (ie last year's roster) intact. The Raps aren't adding any salary from the draft, cutting Salmons and probably stretching Landry out.

Thirdly, I hope this kid can play. From the Youtube clips I've seen, he's very long, athletic and has a nice release from up close. However, youtube clips are highlights. I'm hoping the Raps didn't make their decision on Youtube clips. He's ranked in the teens internationally. I mean, that's not good.
Two years from being two years away.

I want to apologize for any curses/karma I may have helped contribute, as I used a "with the number 1 pick we draft Ivan Chirieav" sig. It was only meant as satire. Im shocked, I guess all we can do is hope he pans out, but im scared by the 4 yrs away.

Um, you realize that all 29 other GMs are members of this forum right? Why else do you think there's such intelligent discussion here?
