how does Jonesy (the host) get to talk more then massai (the GM/president) and almost as much as nick nurse (the new coach)

It was clear Nurse was trying to watch his words and not trying to throw Casey too much under the Bus.

I honestly don't care what he says or how scared he looks at a presser, I care more about how he coaches a basketball game.

Nick also needs Raptors' media team to coach him with media sessions. I'm shocked he looks as uncomfortable as he did.

That was a tough spot though. Trying to sell yourself as an upgrade without throwing Casey under the bus.

He said we have to try different defensive rotations in pre-season and the regular season because you have to be ready for the playoffs. Thank you!

Casey didn't experiment at all and we all knew that in the playoffs he was going to need a Plan C or D and all year we just played the base system even when we clinched.

Deer in the headlights once we had to adjust. And we had basically all season to experiment with a million combos!

You guys need to temper your expectations. No GM or President is going to say "yeah we are definitely making moves". Teams are always open to improving the roster but if no such opportunity presents itself, then you move on.

Masai's body language was really bad. He just didn't look overly thrilled or enthusiastic.

And I don't think we have any clue what will happen to this roster based on this conference. They did mention the playoffs but I don't think anyone expected them to come out and say, "we are blowing it up and going in another direction." Because I am still not sure what type of moves/trades will come up. We've all heard the reports that we are open for business via trades, so I think that is still very much on the table. But it's way too early really know what will happen.

Masai's lack of enthusiasm stuck out to me too. Dude literally looked like he wanted to be anywhere other than this presser.

Dude def has a good mind for the game. But it won't work unless he gets the right players to make things work. Masai gotta do something with this roster.

They know the answer already. Masai isn't planning any roster changes. His work for the summer is done with the bare minimum, as usual. You'll be seeing Masai at the strip club tonight rewarding himself for another great offseason. Then it's off to the golf course.

That was just a question a ****y person asks. He's pretty much asking him to carve up Casey publicly. Everyone knows it's going to be a dodge, so why waste a question on an answer you know you'll get?

Sigh. I know he can't really give specifics and doesn't want to openly criticize Casey, but he gave no solutions whatsoever.

I remember watching that Cleveland series and nurse had the half time interview and basically shrugged his shoulders and said we need to play better.

Unless we make big changes to the roster, I'm done supporting Masai.

In the podcast interview with his hometown local newspaper 2 days after the Cavs series (posted here earlier), as well as he kinda mentioned today, he talked about there are ways to switch better to avoid the big mismatch situations (and also the changing the rotations) because he thought they struggled bad on those situations (eg., Miles guarding Love, DeMar guarding Love, etc).

You guys really aren't looking in to any good things Nurse said:

- Said we have to be more creative offensively and try things different defensively with rotations to be ready for the playoffs (could be a response to CJ on LeBron for 5 straight possessions)

- Is going to think hard about how he wants to round out the coaching staff

- Stressed offensive implementation that the team will follow and will look to test that out in SL and training camp...


Anyone hoping for roster comments by him is kidding themselves. They may ask him for input but ultimately, the decisions are up to Masai and Bobby

The Feschuk question was trying to force Nurse to throw Casey under the bus. You knew what Nurse wanted to say but he'd never do it publicly to the media. Though you could tell by his answer that he had more to say.

I don't know, I'm used to Casey saying "sky's the limit" and tripping over himself so this came off as decent. He didn't want to give up any details and they didn't really ask him any important questions.
