Traded our most efficient offensive player for a 34 year old center who is shooting 44% on the season.

If Derozan thinks they did him dirty.........look at JV's situation now & be thankful.
This is some spin. he battled and gave so much to the Raptors for charity?

He was getting overpaid at 17 mil a season for a limited bench role. It's not like he was making a low amount and overperforming. He wasn't.

What does this have to do with money?

Any professional......no matter what industry wants to be in a successful situation.

Some of you act like the only reason we live & breathe is to make money.

Medic,

I totally understand that yeah, it must be hard for Jonas. But on the contrary, I think what Hero is saying is, hey, Jonas has been paid a decent sum of cash, especially since his type of player is devalued in our league today, and he has not produced the same.

Quite frankly I used to love Jonas, but man, has he been underwhelming. He was a severe defensive liability at times, and It was really really hard to play him in lineups outside of a lanky bigs like a Drummond, or Embiid.

Now we get the best of both worlds.

Also, it's not like Jonas tried to take the responsibility of leading the Raptors to the finals. He was a byproduct of the organization.

a healthy and motivated gasol will be great. im happy with this trade. jonas or delon arent part of the young core if we rebuild anyways.
all we gave up is a 2024 2nd pick,

this was a great low risk/high reward move.

Wanting to be here and producing in the clutch are entirely different things. Demar wanted to be here, and he was benched in game 3. Jonas wanted to be here, and he missed about 6 or 7 bunnies in game 1 against Cleveland that changed the entire complexion of that series. Listen I like JV, but we got a better player and we are looking to make a splash in the playoffs THIS year.

I feel like people here don't mind being Barney's in the playoffs and a long term treadmill because of the loyalty of some players.

I'm not mad. But I feel this is a lateral move. I'd still rather have kept Delon over Fred.

I love Gasol I just don't understand improving a position that was probably already the strongest on the team.

Would you rather have Ibaka and Gasol or Ibaka + JV and someone like Mirotic.

Great trade for you guys. Gasol is 27th in RPM, plays defense, and can score and make plays when it matters most. If your goal is to genuinely compete for a championship within these next couple of years, Gasol over JV is a complete no brainer.

The fact Gasol can step out and hit the three, post-up, and play make with a high bball IQ those passing skills makes this team more dynamic offensively. They're a better team with a C like Gasol, as much as I love JV. Plus I've noticed Gasol has a quick release, tough to contest those shots.

I feel like some people here don’t understand how much of a liability JV can be on defence. It’s actually a little embarrassing to read all the posts about who is going to start, serge or gasol? Marc is one of the best defenders in the NBA. He has more talent in his pinky toe than Serge could ever dream
of having.

I'm coming around on the trade. I think Marc was going through the motions a bit this season and I hope to see him rejuvenated when coming here and battling in the East.

Delon was expiring and it was hard to see us retaining him (although I prefer him over FVV). CJ...c ya.

JV though...he will be sorely missed. What a great guy.

Dude thinks that JV having good defensive stats for 30 games in 18 mpg is somehow gonna make everybody forget he's been (at best) below average defensively his entire career.
