Thomas is a 'jump' shooter, the release point is easily half a foot off the ground. He's able to dribble and shoot as well. He's not getting blocked very often. I'm interested to see if he can play at least average D.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Yep. His book didn't start selling until his transphobic incident propelled him into fame. Now he's funded by White Supremacists. I'm anxiously awaiting his 15 minutes of fame to be over. My wife is doing a PHD at UofT (in Psych) and they wish they could fire him. They no longer allow him to teach classes and he currently has 1 grad student. His whole identity of him as prof now is fraudulent.

I came here for Raptors basketball. Stop cluttering this thread up.

Was going to say the same thing - our boys are back working on defending their championship and I am here reading about Jordan Peterson smh. Reddit is that way -->

My bad. That wasn't my intent.

I'm not worried about the release speed so much because he will be asked to take the open shots to keep defences honest and his spacing will be what he provides primarily I suspect. Anyhow, I worry more about his low release point. He gets a lot of his arc from the wrist rather than the higher release point. That brings the ball down lower and makes it easier to block (considering also he isn't tall).

I don't think these two videos are an accurate representation of his shot.

First, he's shooting a set shot which always looks slow because guys dip the ball to get into rhythm. Even great shooters like Steph and Ray Allen dip the ball to get into rhythm on set shots. Thomas looks additionally slow because he bends his knees more than other guys when shooting with his feet set (think Seth vs. Steph) but it shouldn't matter if he is open enough to be standing with his feet set.

Second, these videos don't show his shot from an angle where you can actually see his release point. If you look at other shooting footage or pictures you'll find that his release point is actually quite high.

What's important is that he doesn't take a lot of time to square up and get in rhythm when shooting non-set shots. Other videos of his shooting on YouTube show that he can get his shot off quickly coming off screens and curls. Guys with slow shots and/or low releases are typically unable to shoot off movement effectively.

Here are two photos showing his high release point and a video from his NBA Pro Day Workout a few years ago where you can see him shooting off movement. Note the guy shooting behind him at the end of the video (spoiler: it's OG)

I don’t even disagree with the dude all that much on many of his views, as they are scientifically derived views, but what a tool to basically dedicate his life and work to some things that aren’t even really that big of a deal, or hurt anyone. He’s just kind of a knob to listen to, as is that Shapiro dude.

Yes I agree those photos do show a better/higher release point. Unfortunately I don't have the time presently to search up his videos I'm pretty confident from memory that several of his game videos show him shooting with that low release point (relative to his shoulders). I agree with what you're saying about his not taking much time to set his shot up though - which does make it possible for him to get those shots off in games. Still - I'm curious as to whether or not it will affect him with the speed and size of the NBA.

I found one video. Forward to 1:55s. Not sure how to embed a link to a specific time.

Just one example of the low release point relative to his shoulder - which is a little odd compared to classic shooters, but it's not too serious anyhow. Really excited to get this season started and see how things go.

Matt Thomas does have a pretty looking shot, kind of reminds me of Steve Kerr's release. But lets not kid ourselves, if he plays any significant minutes this year the team is in trouble.

They should allow players dress however they like as long as it's sufficiently decent. If someone wants to play in a suit, then that's their prerogative.

There are shot makers and shot takers

if Matt Thomas proves himself to be the former, instead of the latter - he can find minutes on any team my friend

Well he's definitely not starting but he will get minutes. If we need to spread the floor he will be in. If Norm starts then McCaw and Thomas will back him up. This team is pretty deep at SG. Norm, FVV, McCaw, Thomas and TD.

I remember when Kawhi got here last year he said there was a lot of talent on this team. If you take Kawhi out of it, this year might have more talent with Gasol, RHJ, SJ, Thomas and even Boucher. I expect top 5 in the league on defense. Even Thomas will be an average defender and everyone else is a plus defender.

The way FVV speaks about TD, you can tell TD is gonna be a stud.

If a guy can score 40 PPG in a chicken suit and win MVP, then he can wear whatever the hell he wants to wear.

I heard Ibaka also got a championship belt for showing the most hustle in the aged 40+ category.
