He has no three point shot so with Nurse I would rate that as snowball's chance in hell.

Yeah if he was an elite or very good defender id be in (like Nurkic for example [id 100% trade for Nurkic if he was available])

The problem is he doesn't have a consistent motor or mental fortitude on that end despite having almost all the physical tools. So while he will do some things that make him look elite he will more frequently just be invisible for long stretches.

He shows some intriguing flashes on offense too (he can kind of pass and dribble for example). But again lacks consistency and mental fortitude.

The contract he expects is important too. A one position center whos elite at rebounding and nothing else on a max deal make it near impossible to build a contender.

I understand we need rebounding but that's something you sign ~$10M players for not max a guy.

We need Norm for the Bucks in the playoffs.

Our bigs were just not rebounding at a high enough level and he saw that and made it his priority. Once again rebounding is a problem this season. Board man isn’t here to save us. Rebounding needs to be addressed and Masai knows that. Thats why you’re hearing names like Tristan Thompson linked to the Raptors and now Drummond.

eeeeeeeeeexactly, all these braindead nerds want shooting, outside threat, defence, bla bla bla, yo morons this guy is the best rebounder in the league.
answer me this: what is the point of having really good defence and making opponents miss shots (multiple shots), WHEN WE CANT EVEN GET THE BOARD AND GO OUT AND RUN! how many times have we seen our elite defence be so effective, only to struggle getting the rebound then the opposing team getting an open three or a dribble drive

His defensive rebounding would be his greatest asset. Offensively though he doesn't fit the system so I don't know how Nurse could utilize him on that end. If we bring in Drummond he has to be surrounded by shooters and the Raps are pretty weak in that department.

You’re talking a lot of smack for someone who can’t spell. I don’t know why you’re mad at me. What you said didn’t make any sense and you were attacking someone in the process. The only issue here is you getting defensive because you got called out. If you’re going to say someone has low IQ learn how to spell. Plain and simple.

I have no issues with spelling. I'm using a new phone I'm not familiar with and didn't bother with using the spell check.

Also saying Drummond has low bball IQ isn't attacking someone it's stating fact. Stop being so sensitive. Anything else you want to complain about beta man?

Been to many times the past couple of seasons where the Raptors would get the initial stop but fail to secure the rebound and the ball would find an open shooter because everyone’s out of position. Its frustrating. I understand it happens but elite teams finish defensive possessions by securing rebounds and giving teams only one opurtunity. The rebounding was a huge concern going into the playoffs last year and unless addressed will be again this season. Kawhi stepped up in the playoffs last year. Not sure I see that guy this year. You would think Ibaka could rebound betrer but he has terrible hands he can barely catch the ball on offence.

Raptors have shown interest in him before.

You mean when the Pistons were having buyers remorse with that contract they gave him and tried to shop him to us for Jonas, which Masai said "no thanks" to?

Elite rebounding is not worth a max slot when that skill comes with deadass BBIQ, awful defensive instincts and zero range.

Building a roster that accommodates $28M for that kind of player virtually guarantees a flawed roster. This is a major reason why the Pistons are trying to trade him.

Andre Drummond would be useful the same way that Dwight Howard *currently* is useful - as a strategic role player who is not taking up a bulk of your cap room.

Some of these posts are painfully stupid. Just stop. Or go be Pistons fans.

If we trade Ibaka or Gasol for Drumond I hope we make a follow up trade and deal FVV for RoCo. Might even look at starting Thomas when he's healthy and see if he can play the JJ Redick role.

Need to surround Andre with shooters to be successful. Would look to see what we can get for Powell/OG/RHJ. Ideally move at least 1 of them for a sniper.

Lowry/Davis
Thomas/Powell
RoCo/OG
Siakam/RHJ
Drummond/Gasol

Law of Ujiri in effect as always.

If you hear a trade rumor, origin is not from our side.

And it will happen even more frequently going forward because Masai is associated with extreme competence. If someone with extreme competence is interested in your player, other GMs should definitely be.

Every time a trade rumor pops up, it's the same deal.

It doesn't mean we haven't talked to DET, but they're putting it out there, not us.

Once Minny puts Wiggins on the trade market, I guarantee a trade rumor will pop-up linking Raptors to him as well.
Have to take all these rumors with a grain of salt.
Masai & co. are very good at keeping things on the low.
Only a month to go till the trade deadline, exciting times ahead.
In Masai We Trust :meditate:

While I'm reasonably sure Webster and Masai are pretty airtight when it comes to trade rumors...I have wonder about whether there is smoke to this. This might be the second time in the last 3 years that the Raptors and Drummond have been mentioned.

Trade deadline 2 years ago...it definitely got out there that Masai needed to reassure JV that he was their guy. That's what you have to say when the trade talks don't amount to anything tangible.

Masai has a method to his madness so who knows.

Return to Toronto Raptors
