This is actually huge for the Wolves, the situation with Saunders was beginning to get sad and pathetic. I’m happy for them and Finchy.

Those thinking it is shady... he was recently interviewed by the GM.
Compensation... you don't get that for assistants becoming head coaches.
Worried about the Raptors without the assistant... they have capable assistants and Nurse is smart. We'll be fine

Wonder what the raps do. Probably promote within

Time to Kyle to suit up and be an interim assistant coach as his hand heals.

As long as the team is having some success...it might be nice to preserve Kyle's body.

Once again the Raptors lead the league in:
- opponent team meetings called
- opposing team head coaches fired
- own team coaches promoted

I can't wait until Boston fires Brad Stevens after we beat them and then he joins Nurse as head assistant so the top two nerd coaches with the junkiest of janky basketball purity can **** with the **** league. Bet.

Don't recall an assistant coach ever being poached from a team midseason, Raps are all class to give their blessing, but there really should be some compensation.

It is the first time an assistant from another staff has been hired as the permanent replacement in-season since the Memphis Grizzlies hired Bucks assistant Lionel Hollins in 2009.

Honest question from an outsider who generally routs for long tortured franchises to turn it around...

If you could just wipe the slate clean now, complete roster, new ownership, new everything with no Townes, Russell but a bunch of 1sts including your own and a cleanish cap sheet would you? Because for at least 2 years you could see this coming. They decided to get in deeper. Building around another big man in a guard driven league, and devaluing him as they go. It's gone on for generations from Garnett to Love to Towns. I apologize for asking this, but this situation is so frustrating and sad that I'm not even a fan of the team and I'm frustrated and sad. best wishes, hope Finch works out for you.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Can't help thinking that Finch jumped the gun here. Had he waited until the end of this season, he might've found himself coaching the Celtics or the Bucks, instead of an organization who's entire franchise history can be described as a permanent tank and rebuild, interrupted only by Kevin Garnett.

Maybe he wants the challenge. Also maybe he doesn't want to wait until then to earn some good money. It's easy to make that call from an armchair but almost anyone would have taken the opportunity to get a better job especially one like a head coaching job. Those other 2 jobs aren't anywhere close to guaranteed anyway.

Any news on changes we might make now? Maybe we move everyone up and recall Donaldson from the 905?

No - that's a stretch. I gave you an +1 for putting words in my mouth, you deserve it.

I'm wondering why Raptors didn't fight to keep Finch. He's supposed to be the orchestrator of the offense this season. Why would you let him go when you're down a couple of coaches? It's possible that they didn't mind him leaving and that could be due to friction in vision or personality which is a possibility.

Finch also could've taken the job before the season - why now? There are some unanswered questions there. However I like your story much better than mine, it's waaaaayyyy more interesting. Please do your Wandavision and tell me what I am actually saying.

Explain. Did I flame you in the past? I am looking forward to discussing it with you though.

Apparently, Memphis poached Lionel Hollins from another team mid-season a couple of decades ago.

Is there some way for us to get a draft pick in return?

I remember the Celtics got a 1st rounder for Doc a few years back.

If Minny is so desperate for him, then they should pay up.

We're fine.

Jama coached the 905 last year and is with us now. Still have Griffin and Sergio who have been with the team for the last 2 seasons.

Super disrespectful if they interviewed Finch while keeping Saunders employed.

I'm sure Saunders was kept apprised of what was happening behind the scenes.
He could see he wasn't doing a fantastic job with the roster (not to say the talent is on par with the Brooklyn Nets) but the development wasn't there.

Seems like the guys are finally running the new offense smoothly. Feels like a reasonable time for him to leave. I'm sure we can keep it going.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

Teams don't demand compensation when a coach is moving up from assistant to head coach. Everyone lets people chase promotions.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
