I would trade Malachi Flynn to NY for Mitchell Robinson. Robinson is on a qualifying offer for this upcoming season and is extension eligible...can sign an extension for up to 4 years/51 million according to Google....which is a very reasonable sized contract.

NY has Derrick Rose and Elfried Payton as point guards. Malachi fits as a younger point guard who might be an upgrade over Payton.

Obviously you take Kleber but he’s arguably a positive asset and Dragic is a negative one, so I don’t see Dallas doing it

Luka and Dragic are close and want to play together. It's the Lebron effect, to make your star happy you make this trade. Kleiber is not really a C but I guess he can play that position. Dallas has a ton of Cs -

Powell
Kleiber
You Rang
Moses
Porzingis

They need a scoring guard.

That would be dope to get a player like Maxi Kleber. Son can stroke the 3 and stretch the floor, whilst being an interior presence on the defensive end in short spurts.

I’m not sure I agree with the premise that Miami is going to be so much better this year! I’d suggest they’ll be more like the “Big Three” Nets then the “Big Three” Celtics. In fact I’d suggest the Raptors, as a “team”, are likely better than the Heat when you compare the starting 5 and that’s before we know for sure who’ll play the 5 full time for us!

Kyle > Fred (but closer than you think at this point)
Duncan Robinson < GTJ (Duncan is a pylon on D and doesn’t shoot the 3 that much better for being 5 years older)
Jimmy Butler > OG (I’d honestly take OG in a playoff series as he’s way bigger and longer and shoots the 3 unlike JB)
Tucker < Siakam (Tucker still has his moments at 37 but this ones not close)
Bam > Khem/Precious/Dwight Powell etc (Bam is only 6’9” and didn’t show the continued growth expected but still better than Raps)
Bench < Bench
All this to say, I’d rather play the Heat than the Raps in a 7 game playoff series!

Agreed. This is where I would like to see Masai gamble. Tell them we want Kleber in any trade for Dragic. If they decline and offer Powell tell them we want a 1st round pick.

Maybe Dallas want to expand the trade for Dragic and try to obtain Siakam too? They’ll probably be parting away with Porzingis if that’s the case.

- Win now roster, draft a project.
- Center was our biggest hole last year, obtain a tweener forward and pass on two guys who didn’t sign astronomical deals with their teams because you couldn’t get a third team involved in a S&T that you knew you were going to do months ago.
- Pick yet another tweener, no offense big (Achiuwa) over a guy who can actually score the ball (Herro) and again failing to realize that the NBA is now about scoring in the playoffs. I normally wouldn’t assume this to be true but with the other baffling decisions they’ve made this off-season, I’m not ruling that out.
- Gave a 22 year old a player option after two years in a good faith effort to create extra space that you’re not going to end up using.

I just can’t.

One thing to correct you on, the Raptors didn’t choose Precious over Herro, Herro was never on the table.

I think the front office had a massive miss during the season by not trading Lowry for picks and a player and trading Norm for a restricted free agent instead of getting some second round picks. And they should have decided early that they wouldn’t be players in free agency and just taken on salary for picks.

So now they’re kind of stuck.

Would ya'll take a flyer on Bagley?

Have to assume the cost for getting him is really low

Absolutely would. I don't think its as low as it maybe should be though or he would have already been moved. Kings really mismanaged their relationship with him, but they haven't quite given up on him yet.

I’m thinking that there’s a bigger trade in play with Dallas.

Porzingis and perhaps Powell or Moses and parts
For:
Siakam and Dragic

Porzingis mentioned Toronto as one of his destinations before and both him and Siakam want fresh starts. Solves our Big issues with Powell/Moses and Porzingis coming our way too.

I agree with the premise but the only problem is that from Dallas’ perspective only Dwight Powell makes sense. And from the Raptors perspective do they want to take on an additional year of Dwight Powell without an incentive? It’s complicated mess because Dallas has options for a back up ball handler, Reggie Jackson, Schroeder are still available. Hell Malik Monk is unrestricted and available.

We are in win-now as long as we have FVV&Siakam. FVV has already proven that he can lead the team to victories without Kyle.
Our C must be a stretch 5 but I would be curious to see how Nurse utilizes a rebounding machine like Drummond.
W/out a Center we managed to be ranked 4th in the East: Yup we are certainly in win-now mode. Some of you can pretend all you want that "we will be tanking next season"

Yeah, how are people forgetting how difficult it was for this team to tank even with those players out for significant time?

This is a playoff team that will get better as time passes. There are two elite teams in the East that no other team can challenge right now other than maybe Miami. It's in the best interest of the team to develop their young players now while making a run in the playoffs and set themselves up for a couple of years down the line.

The change at the 5 alone will make this team a lock for the playoffs and give them a good chance to sit in either the 5th or 6th seed.

To tank again this year ALOT of things have to go wrong. Siakam injury doesn't really slow us down, he should be out for a few games in the beginning of the season when everyone is rusty and matches are sloppy. We addressed alot of needs by acquiring Barnes and Achiuwa alone, people don't need to see it right now. They will see. The other thing is Van Vleet playing PG. He's not a SG, the guy is 5'11 ffs! Being able to play him at PG and having a proper SG will help this team. Lowry, as great as he is was very ball dominant especially in a contract year. The team is going to be much better.

We should be getting draft/prospect compensation back because we don't want that two year deal, but it would be fine to plug a hole. If there's a hangup it's likely on what that compensation should be.

This is a great trade for us because we shouldn't care at all about taking on Powell. It's a pure asset extraction move, and this allows us to get more.
