The Rising Star thing was pretty much a foregone conclusion, but still pretty cool for the young guy. Hopefully he becomes one of those players that basically just expects to be at All Star weekend year after year. 2 for 2 so far. Next year will be the toughest one - making the jump to the main game.

Barnes usage rate is gonna look lower simply because he is one of the few guys, the other being Siakam (sometimes) who makes a pass in which really he is setting up the next pass. So no assist, no shot, no usage rate uptick, yet he made the play happen.
Total touches last 15 games to (per game)
FVV - 86.9
Siakam - 82.9
Barnes - 78.9
The people asking for him to be more involved don't seem to realize he already quite involved in the offence, just what he does not not necessarily translate to box score stats. Over the last 15 games he is 19th in the league in touches.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 5
Opposing teams are curious about how Toronto’s front office will respond to the disappointing season. Ujiri abhors stagnation, but his tenure has been marked by fielding competitive rosters and looking for incremental gains through the draft, free agency, and the trade market. VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., who could hit the open market this summer if they choose, headline ongoing trade rumors. The Raptors could also deal OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam, potential 2024 free agents, and opt for a full-scale rebuild around a high lottery pick that fits Barnes’s developmental time line.
In January, Barnes cut down on his 3-pointers and used his long stride to fill the space he’s being given, getting to the line 5.5 times per game and averaging 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, with an uptick in steals and blocks. “I like it, being able to facilitate the offense, moving it side to side, being able to go downhill,” Barnes says.
Despite Barnes’s improved play, the Raptors have gone 7-9 in that stretch. With several contract decisions looming, they still have to ask themselves if it makes sense to try to win and develop Barnes around the team as it is currently constructed. That’s the challenge of trying to do everything at once. It can be hard to find a sense of direction.

18/7/5 last month with 5.5 FTAs and he still looks so raw offensively, that speaks to the level he can get to one day.

I know right? He's honestly so good this early, and I'm not used to it. You can 100% see how raw he is still on both ends. But you can see the ceiling of the type of player he is, and could be. But as we all know his ultimate ceiling hinges on him being a respectable shooter.

I don't think you get how the team dynamics work.

Yeah because he looks to get the other people involved first. Imagine him waving suakam and fvv off all game. You think thats gonna work in the locker room? You think nick nurse would like that?

He doesn't need to waive them off at all lol. Just be more aggressive with the touches.
He averages less drives to the rim than Bruce Brown, 37 year old Kyle Lowry, Grayson Allen, etc etc. The stuff he does in the 4th quarter ? He can do it in any quarter man, trust me.
