I try not to even think about it. He took a huge leap after leaving Toronto. He always wanted to be in Toronto and was well-loved. I do think development is also based on who is around you. He spent years around Kawhi and Paul Goerge and lives in LA with world-class trainers. I am sure all of that helped him to grow and that may not have happened in Toronto.

His numbers are near identical from his last year in Toronto to now. He stayed the same. Toronto whiffed on the trade, especially when you consider Zach Lowe said 15 teams put in an offer on Norm. Norm to Gary did major damage to the culture here. They clearly didn't do their homework on Gary, and didn't give Norm enough credit for being a loyal soldier.

Trading Norm didn't damage the culture. he was starting to to follow FVV lead of building his own brand vs the team brand. They all were playing for contracts and not the team.

You can say they didn't do their homework but he did trend upward but then never kept developing.

Also people forget....we didn't trade Norm to Clips. Portland gave him away for a 2nd rd pick so they didn't value him....and neither did any other team since no one offered more.

Suggs is balling. I gotta see some highlights as to see how he managed to score 28 points.

Avdija is a winning player. Great trade Portland. I get why Washington did it. I think Portland will do better than many predicted unless they do a fire sale.

I don't mind the Norm trade. They took a flyer on Gary Trent Jr and it never worked out. On to the next one.

I didn't really see that at all with Norm. Dude was a professional here.

I think the problem was more so that his defense wasn't that strong and we didn't know if his shot was a fluke or sustainable

Norm was a near elite shooter for a couple of seasons here. We definitely knew it was sustainable. They just didn’t want to pay him and it made sense to go younger. Long run it made little difference as he’s been regularly sidelined with injuries and Trent was relatively okay. But he was, is, and will always be the better player.

Jalen Suggs looking like he earned his contract extension.

18.6/5.5/4.5 with 2.3 steals on 46/38/91. With Banchero out it will be interesting to see his usage go up. Wagner has been a disappointment so far.

The only people who didn't think that contract was going to work out are the same people who for some reason, think all young guys on other teams can't improve.

Not looking good tonight. Magic shooting as a team 32%, and 18% from 3.

With Banchero out, this team could collapse, as what little offence they had was all driven by his play.

Man, the East in general looks like it is just going to be straight ass this year. After tonight, there will only be 5 teams in the East above .500, and one of those teams is the Bulls

And holding up the bottom are the Sixers and the Bucks :nonono:

Celtics could have another easy route to the finals this season.

Yeah I love Norm but there’s a reason he’s never been given a role above “bench scorer” until this year where he’s been forced to start.

He’s a good player - not a game changer - but a good player.

But, you make the Powell for GTJ trade 10000% of the time
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Let’s give it more than a few games before we crown him improved to this level

Hopefully the narrative that the Magic are better without Paolo can slowly start to die over the next month or so.

It's a shame he got injured as he was a lock for Allstar. And he is a significant force for Orlando... moreso than any one single player on Raptors...

So many teams will be bottoming out this year.... will be tough for Raptors... injuries to key people being the decisive factor.

Was that an actual narrative? Crazy.

At least the 76ers are missing their top two players. Bucks are missing Middleton.

I am really hoping OKC cashes all their draft capital and gets Giannis to pair with SGA. The only challenge is making up the salary because they have too many small contracts, but I guess they could use Hartenstein as a salary ballast after his trade restriction is lifted in December. By then, the Bucks if terrible, might be into a deal.
