Davion going OFF in OT. Three threes, drawn charge, offensive board, a few deflections. Looking like Lowry lol.

That’s what happens when you sacrifice all your financial flexibility by trading for Ingram. Keeping Mitchell would have meant being a tax team for certain.

He has had lots of games lately where he has barely played, 2, 4, 6 mins played in late March.
Davion dominating!
He gone.
Jaquez I mean

So you would rather Davion than BI?

lol mitchell would've been overpaid for a backup guard. we have shead who did a fine job and iq is a better player. this after-the-fact stuff is stupid. he's found a good home there in miami but they're ultimately gonna get routed by the cavs so who cares. they're a treadmill team

Re: Official NBA General Discussion 2024-25 V1.0
I really liked Davion in Toronto, much more than I expected I would. I remember before the lottery in 2021 being terrified that Raps would draft him at #7, like all the mocks said we would.
But even above the luxury tax issue, we HAD to play him for the duration of the season if we kept him past the deadline, and keep Shead on the bench or in G-League. You can't bench good young players during their out year - agents don't like that. And ... he would have helped us win more games. So he had to go. But it hurt then, and it still hurts now. Happy for him, tho'.

If Masai was robbed by Riley, what do you call what Masai did to the Sac Kings front office?
Mitchell + 45th pick (Shead) + Vezenkov (zero buyout) + Portland’s 2025 second-round pick for freaking Jalen McDaniels..
Nah fam...Thats aggravated larceny right there

I was not in favour of the Ingram trade for many reasons, lack of financial flexibility going forward was one of them. I was also not in favour of paying IQ what he got on his extension, I thought it was a significant overpay and I think it's clear now that we could have filled the PG position cheaper with a better defender in Mitchell, even if we had just been able to get IQ on a bit of a discount we might have been able to keep Davion instead of giving him away to Miami.

I'm not convinced IQ is better, if Mitchell is shooting like this he's better because he's a rare good defensive PG that can also hit 3s. You know he shot almost 45% from 3 once traded to Miami, right?

You acquire cap flexibility so that you can MAKE a trade like Ingram.
We got an allstar level player for olynuk, brown and davion (plus a late pick).
It wasn't long ago that there were 1000s of posts making fun of those that pointed out brown's contract could be used in a big trade.
If you never turn flexibility into anything ...then it IS as useless as so many ppl were claiming.
It wasn't useless. We got Ingram for next to nothing.
