thanks for posting those Rhett. Looking at those videos, I still have concerns about Barnes' inside play, and his ability to get to the line. Hopefully we can get a better idea in the tournament.

This article seems to agree with my initial impressions of Kanter, he's certainly not a stiff and if everything checks out with him as far as his knees go, I'd definitely be ok drafting him. I'd definitely prefer him to Sullinger. Can't wait to see him play in the Hoop Summit on April 9th.

I like the new DX list, and that scouting report on Barnes was pretty darn good, but why on earth is Perry Jones ahead of Derrick Williams? What has he done to deserve that?

He was born with elite athleticism then grew to 6'11"

8. Enes Kanter
9. Terrence Jones

Walker and Valanciunas remain much too high.

1/2. Irving/Sullinger (order will depend on team)
3/4/5. Barnes/Jones/Williams (in no particular order)
6/7. Kanter/Valanciunas (one of the two could go 4-5)
8. Terrence Jones (could potentially go 6-7)
9/10. Henson/Vesely
11. Walker

I haven't followed Barnes all that much, but from that DX clip - he reminds me of a Joe Johnson type player. Can shoot the long jumper, create somewhat off the dribble, and doesn't invite contact all that much despite his size.

Is that a fair enough comparison?

Yes, Joe Johnson is a good comparison, and I see him play SG.
I don't think he is a good fit with DeRozan, both doesn't know how to pass the ball. And he is very similar to Bargnani on creating offense, so I don't know if they are good fit either.

DX finally gets it right with Barnes. They had him listed as an 11-13th pick for the longest time.

Although I've always insisted that Barnes will go 3rd or 4th, I don't exactly agree with this list.

If we end up with the 5th or 6th pick, we may end up just missing out on some decent talent.

I don't mind Perry Jones or Derrick Williams, but I've never been a fan of tweeners.

Bob (ATL)

Could this be the first time in NBA history where a hurt player gets picked #1 overall (Kyle Irving)?

Chad Ford (1:49 PM)

Considering Coach K is actually thinking of playing Irving on Friday, that may no longer be the case. His toe injury isn't the type of thing that will scare off NBA teams. There are no long-term ramifications with it I'm told. If a team like the Cavs, Kings, Wolves or Raptors get the top pick, I think Irving will be the guy going No. 1.

Only related to the above quote, didn't Kenyon Martin also have a broken leg the year he was drafted first overall? I seem to recall that for some reason because I remember reading in sports illustrated (remember when we used to actually read SI?) that most felt it wouldn't impact his draft stock and that he was still most likely going to go #1.

Good to see Barnes back in the top 5 where he belongs although considering our current situation it might have been better for us if he stayed at 12.

Anyway, glad I didn't jump off the bandwagon, Barnes is going to be a beast and a Derozan/Barnes 2/3 combo would have me very excited about the future. Finally a guy with real two-way potential although I'm holding out hope that Demar keeps improving his defense like he has for the past two months.

...........that is if we don't get Irving.

Their PG situation is terrible right now, and even with the doubts about Rubio coming over to Minny, Kyrie right now looks like the better prospect. But yeah... three high lotto picks for Rubio, Flynn, and Kyrie, along with FA signings of Sessions/Ridnour---all in a two year span--is pretty funny.

Is Perry Jones strictly a 4 ? or can he play the 3?

It's kind of fun imagining the idea of Derozan/Barnes eventually becoming sort of a "this generation's Latrell Sprewell/Alan Houston" kind of duo. Sprewell was the defender in that duo but I think Derozan can get better on the defensive end and hopefully will continue to improve on the offensive end. Barnes has more of a reputation for defence than Houston ever did and seems to possess sort of an outside/in game like Houston did. Sprewell was more of a slasher and Houston the perimeter shooter so their games complimented one another pretty well and that's kind of how I'm imagining a potential Derozan/Barnes combination functioning during their prime years. Obviously, it's not a "perfect" comparison (nothing really is) but that's kind of how I'm imagining it at the moment.

I know it's not James/Wade, Westbrook/Durant, Allen/Pierce quality but it still has the potential to be pretty nice and I'll take something like that over the 5+ years we've had of stop gap SG/SF duos since VC/Mo Pete left town. I'm looking forward to the idea now of a young quality SF playing next to Derozan now.

he believes he's a 3 (certainly has the speed and athleticism to play there). In fact, scouts seem to have more concerns about him being mediocre as a big man in the league (since he is a bit skinny/not a monster rebounder/shotblocker for a big), not really about him playing the 3. Luckily for us, it would serve us better to let him play the position he wants to play... I guess we'll have a better understanding of how well he can fare as wing player (especially where his ballhandling/shooting stacks up vs. other SF prospects) once the workouts roll around. I'm just happy he's done with Baylor now and can focus on individual work leading up to the draft. There was no point in him wasting away playing out of position at the 5 for them. If he can get in the weight room and add some more muscle, and work on improving his jumper/ballhandling/quickness, I think he can definitely play SF in the NBA (and possibly excel given the unique mismatch potential he has).

Interesting, how would people around here feel if we end up with Jones? I think he can be a star given the right circumstance. More potential then most players declaring IMO.

One GM thinks Kanter's stock won't drop... He compares him to a taller Al Horford... If he can become like Horford, he would be a perfect fit on this team. It would allow us to move Bargani or Ed for a legit SF or PG... We would have a well balanced team.

Just so everyone knows, Kanter had tendonitis issues in his knees. Now it might not sound like much but tendonitis for a big man in the NBA is the equivalent of arthritis for an elderly person.

The good news is that it's being reported that those tendonitis issues cleared up well before last summer and considering Kanter hasn't played any competitive ball this season outside of practising with the UK squad i think it has given him more than enough time to let it heal a bit.

I had Kanter really high on board in the summer and I've kept him in my top 5 or 6 but I think I'm going to give JV the slight edge right now based on his aggresiveness on D, his length and the fact that he seems to have a higher ceiling.

I wouldn't be upset with picking Kanter but I have Irving/Barnes/Jones/Jonas ahead of him.
