Would be shocked if we move away from FVV, at least right now.

Agreed.
I don't see us moving OG, FVV, GTJ, or Siakam moved at the deadline.
I would be surprised if anyone in the eight man rotation is moved by February.
Even in the case of guys like FVV and GTJ who have player options in 2023, you would still likely get more on draft day or from a team that struck out in free agency than you would at the deadline.

I would be too. That said, his value for trading must be peak right now. His contract situation is good.

That pick could end up being extremely valuable.

this is true, but our front office is really high on him as well. I don't see another team offering the kind of return for Fred that our front office would require to move him.

Can they get a late 1st pick for Flynn and Boucher?

i’ll be dumbfounded if someone wasted a 1st rd pick for Flynn. Boucher maybe but his is expiring contract so probably not

I would guess the players we are willing to part ways with are Flynn, Dragic and Boucher. We keep everyone else

Bouchers value is peaking as he’s playing the best ball of his career.
Probably pricing himself out of Toronto’s plans.
That said, we can’t trade him just for picks—- what are we going to do, run a 6 man rotation?
Weird spot.
Feels like Masai is looking for every excuse to tank and nick nurse and the core 5 players just said eff that.

Malachi Flynn being available should be common sense but I guess its nice to see a report confirming it.
Raptors need to add talent.

Dragic contract would be good to anyone looking to eliminate salary. They can trade for him and then buy him out.

Kevin Love balling in Cleveland. Probably could have helped the raps.

Meh. Unless he's coming with Garland or a very lightly protected pick, I just dont see the point.
Toronto does need to add talent but I still believe it should be young talent. We're more than an a Kevin Love away from title contention and we really don't have much time or capspace to figure it out.
Next year is Vanvleets last guaranteed year and unless we turn into a true contender in the next 12 months, I see no reason for him to re-up with us. Not to mention we could see GTJ opt out for bigger money already. Stands to reason that if we can't win with them on the cheap deals they have now, we won't be able to do it when they get market or above market contracts.
IMO, management needs to look to consolidate OG, Trent, Dragic, Flynn and Boucher into pieces that help us be competitive now (if that is in fact the goal) and/or bring in young pieces that we can surround Scotty with.
It's that or cash in now on Freddy and Siakam, which I honestly don't think is going to happen.

Re: 2021-22 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread
Pieces that might be going out this years deadline..Flynn,Dragic and maybe Boucher plus a future second round, for probably a backup PG,and a shooter off the bench.if we have 3 useful bench players the rest of this year, it will help out a lot, but Massai neither should and won't give up frps for expiry bench vets.At this juncture where our team and competition stands in the East, its pointless to sacrifice future and salary cap for short sighted, marginal success. However, the big trades should come this offseason and that player should be Seikam. If he continues to play like this his value will be very high and he is the one we should be cashing out on, cus we got Barnes, who will be more ready next year.He is the future franchise and him and Seikam are kind of similar on their strength and weaknesses now.Neither shoots exceptionally and both are very good playmakers for big man. With that trade, hopefully we can get a rim protector and good shooting centre, picks or quality bench guys and shed some salary in the process so we can resign Fred and Trent when their time comes.
Turner Barnes OG Trent Fred bench sign a playmaker PG with Mle,a quality shooter from Seikam trade,Achua,2 frps(1 our own and 1 from trade)and whoever from the young guys on the squad that takes the next step.e.i Banton.
This team is very young with a lot of talent and assets, who should begin contending in a couple years, meanwhile it will be very competitive and fun to watch as a mid tier playoff team.

Flynn, Boucher and dragic would probably be most shopped. Would anyone entertain something around Malachi and Chris for jalen smith?

This might seem crazy, but it works under the Trade Checker. Include a pick from us if you want:
CJ McCollum, Snell and Elleby, #39
FOR
Dragic, Birch and Boucher, #15-20 (our 1st rounder)
If Lillard is out, then Portland tanks hard this season, improving their pick. They'd have close to 25M in cap space I believe going into the summer with Simons' cap hold. Birch is a decent backup 5 on a cheap-ish deal and presumably they draft a forward to give them a rotation of Lillard-Simons-Powell-Little-2022 1st-Nance-Birch but with enough money to try to get a better center or just keep Nurkic and Boucher if they can't get one in the summer via trade or free agency, or just Boucher for 10M and then spend 15M on a different 5
We take on 2 McCollum years but he gives us a scorer. It's 25M more for those 2 years than Birch. We're right up against the tax next year and so can either go over it by using the taxpayer MLE on a center, or stay under it and just stay with smallball, Precious and maybe we get a center like Koloko or Mark Williams falling to us, sign a cheap one (like a Biyombo or one from Europe or a Senior undrafted type we can offer actual playing time like Kofi Cockburn, Tshiebwe or another competent enough low upside type) or move Flynn and the pick for a rookie contract guy we think can handle 10 minutes a night.
Probably unlikely, but it does help Portland tank and gives them some size and tons of saving, and gets us a scorer for nothing but money and maybe a protected 1st rounder really.
