Thanks.

So it seems Adam Paige was the last cut.

Anyone have any reports or legible boxscores from the two exhibition games (other than the tweets above).

Let me walk that back a bit about Barrett I don’t like what I wrote.

He basically says it is TBD which is nothing new. I was looking for something more.

And i am a huge Khem Birch advocate for his defense and fit next to KO and Murray.
I love Powell but his defense and rebounding is sub par and i don’t see a great fit next to KO. I’d rather see a front court of KO/Birch with Powell/TT spelling them off.

If I'm the Knicks I let RJ play in World Cup over Summer League every day of the week. Unfortunately, I don't own the Knicks and he will be playing Summer League and doubt he plays for the SMNT

I’m assuming all the rookies but RJ wont play.

I am curious why people think RJ - a barely 19 year old who has never played a minute of professional basketball would start over Brooks or Wiggins.
Do people think RJ is really a better b-ball player than Brooks at this point in time (assuming he is healthy)? I know Wiggins get major grief but he has got to be better than RJ today.

What’s preventing him from playing both SL and SMNT? They do not conflict - far from it.

Summer League ends on July 15th. So for all of the players participating it depends on when training camp starts for each country. FWC starts August 31st. You know Rui is playing so that means there is time for camp in between.

No, I don't think RJ is a better player than Brooks or Wiggins at this point.
But I doubt all three will be available, so I don't think it will come down to that.

I think it is more likely that none of the three is available.

So who are the other options? T. Scrubb? Pierre? Shepherd? Doornekamp returns? A 2-guard like Stauskas?

Kind of OT: who is the next Barrett/Wiggins for Canada? RJ was on our radar for years as a potential #1 pick, same with Wiggins back in the day. anyone else at that level? Murray level?

Probably Elijah fisher #1 or #2 (depending on the publication) recruit in the class of 2023. Should have some other lottery picks and many first rounders before then but he’s the next “big one”

Huh? He said "We don't really know what's going to happen yet, but if I have the opportunity, I would love to play" and his agent Bill Duffy said "TBD." Not sure how you got that he won't be playing out of that.

Does RJ on the Knicks with Iggy influence Iggs to ditch his Lithuanian supplication in favour of Canada?? Will Iggy feel more part of "the team" and feel more of the CDN jive just hangin' with RJ?? At this stage I'm fairly indifferent,, just food for thought.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

I don’t think Iggy sticks in the NBA - but the Knicks are pretty god awful so he may get a year or two here. Recall Justin Jackson was a mid 2nd round pick last year.

I still think if iggy stays in the NBA he remains Canadian and if he leaves for Europe he ditches Canadian citizenship. Like you, I am indifferent and don’t see him ever contributing to either counties A team meaningfully.

U19 action started today. Canada vs Australia, I managed to watch the game. My thoughts below:

- It's pretty obvious that Lawson and Mane are in a class of their own. Both were shooting a ridiculous clip from 3 - Mane hit a couple clutch 3s off the bounce.
- Our bigs are rough. Charles had a good first half but ended up making a bunch of bad plays mid-4th which kept the game closer than it needed to be.
- The crowd was very pro-Australia. The horn they were blowing was massively annoying and I was watching the game from the couch, can't imagine being there.
- We were not hitting our FTs when needed. I think we were 3/6 in the last minute which left the door open.

All in all, this team managed to fight through some adversity which is impressive but I'd be lying if I said they didn't give me a heart attack in the second half. Not sure if I can watch the rest of this tournament but happy with the win today.

Dwight Powell gets a 3 year extension ( being under contract makes it a lot easier to report for National Team duty).

Watched the Mali game last night.

While Mali has been the surprise package of this tournament, the lack of cohesion and team play was telling for Canada.

Too reliant on hot outside shooting of the 2 guards, Lawson and Mane.

When the 3rd quarter started it seemed that the Canadian boys got complacent and didn't know how to handle the physicality of the Mali forwards. By the time a timeout was called I think Mali had scored 14-or 15 straight points.

As mentioned above, missed free throws also hurt us, and eventually lost us the game..

Mali get potentially their best player back when Zag recruit, Oumar Ballo joins them against Australia.

They could make it through to the medal round, which after last night Canada will struggle to do.

Olynyk to the Mavericks - good buddies with Powell . I hope Cuban doesn't discourage them from playing for Canada.

Yes I'm quite aware he was there - with fellow Shark Tank alumni and former Dragon's Den member Kevin O'Leary. Cuban off-course has a history with Steve Nash in terms of trying to dissuade him from playing International basketball. Perhaps he's softened his stance as Nowitzki and JJ Barea have played internationally. At any rate - as long as the player is not injured , it's the player not the owner who makes the final call on participation.
