After the initial backlash/bewilderment from most media and fans, you couldn't really expect Masai to go into and interview promising this guy will develop into a superstar, could you? I think he is just trying to play it cool, temper expectations for now. He obviously thinks highly of the kid and is excited about him, otherwise they wouldn't have drafted him.

I was pissed yesterday but today I'm pretty happy. I admit it caught me off guard but I like the kid. He's a gym rat and that alone sold me on him. I'm still pissed about the Daniels pick because I think Grant, Glen Robinson were much better options.

my problem is that this goes against Masai's entire philosophy. What happened to wait and see? What happened to patience? he panicked and picked him early cause he was afraid of losing him.

The more I learn about this guy and this organization's plan for him, I don't think he's four years away. They'd stash him if that were the case. He'll probably bulk up 20 pounds or so in his rookie year while playing in the D-League or being a practice/bench player, and then start playing NBA minutes a game in year 2. Assuming he progresses, of course, which is far from a sure thing.
