Yeah that is not happening. I think Ilyasova is the better player on the better contract. If the Bucks gave him up in a Rudy Gay trade, I think Toronto would be extremely foolish to give him away. And Honestly you get quite a bit less in that trade than in the one I proposed. Pure cap space and instant savings is worth much more than a pick from Detroit 3 years down the road.

Actually, a first round pick and 2 expirings are worth more than a 2nd round pick and expirings. The problem is you want to get Rudy for a bag of chips so take that garbage back where it belongs on the Bucks board.

Yeah I was probably pretty harsh. Your trade does look better on the surface especially if you figure them as only expiring's. You really need to figure in pure savings. With your trade you are still paying $17+ million this year in salary. With my trade you are paying $8 million before a Caron's buyout. $9 million has value. With your trade the earliest you will get a pick is 2016. With my trade you get a pick next draft. Also you could probably flip the TPE's for a decent player if you wanted.

Like I said though I figured you wouldn't like the trade I proposed.

The savings are semantics to me, I couldn't care less about how much money our ownership saves to be honest. And sure, your pick comes up first but it's a 2nd rounder versus a 1st rounder.

Bucks are a treadmill team, one that we have to get past in the arms race to the bottom. what about

Lowry + Gay for Ridnour + Udoh + Butler + Antetokounmko

Raps

Ridnour - Buycks - Augustine
DD - Ross
Butler - Fields - Novak
Johnson - Udoh
JV - Hansborough

What about trading Gay to the Cavs so they can really look to be a contender. We'd have to take back Varejao to make it work. In the trade checker these 2 trades work....

Tor trades: Gay, Acy
Cle trades: Varejao, Gee, Zeller

Tor trades: Gay, Acy, Ross, Buycks
Cle trades: Varejao, Waiters, Zeller, Miles

It didn't accept Buycks because of his recent signing but the trade would work by mid-december. There are obviously different variations that you could use but the principles of the deal would be Gay for Varejao and young asset(s). I'm not sure we could get a pick out of them as getting a rookie contract player who's a quality rotation player is probably the most we could ask for.

Getting waiters would be nice, I'd certainly rather have him then DD or Ross. Thompson would be nice as well.

It really seems to be too late. They need injuries and another terrible start like last year or they are gonna be resting their hopes on a <5% shot with the ping pong balls next spring. I have faith that the braintrust has a plan but I can't figure out what it is. It sure doesn't look like tanking though, although that is probably just an acknowledgment that they couldn't get as bad on paper as Philly/Orlando/Phoenix/Boston/etc... if they tried.

Wiggins through the draft is a pipe dream unless some sort of miracle happens, but the goal doesn't have to be LeBron if you can get DWade.

I imagine the thinking with DeRozan is that you aren't going to get value this year but next offseason there are going to be some teams whose cupboards are bare and who didn't have lottery luck and I think it'll be a lot easier to move his contract to someone desperate for scoring.

I agree with the logic that's why its best to keep him around and hope his value increases. Even though I'm against trading derozan.

$100 in monopoly money says Waiters is an untouchable. The first scenario is a meh return. I also think we should try and see what kind of player Acy could be. You never know Masai might package Amir in a sell high scenario and we might wish we still had bargain price Quincy. I sort of don't understand throwing Bikes in a trade when we have never seen him play. If I'm trading with Cleveland I want one of the Canadians likely Thompson.
Gay/Ross/Daye
for
Thompson/Varajao/Gee

I would do that.

I wanted to make a separate thread for this but thought it would be more appropriate here. What do you guys think of a trade surrounding Bennett and Rudy gay?

We are a major NBA city and we deserve a mega star.

Durant to Toronto...Just get it done somehow.

We've had enough of this scrub of a team.

I cant see the Cavs giving up Bennett after they picked him #1 this early. The only hope of Bennett is that he becomes an establishes himself and wants to come home to play once he can.

Tristan Thompson is a guy that I can see the Cavs making a deal for surrounding Gay. If we can get Thompson, I'd be happy. He has good double double potential. But it'll only be a good fit if JV can consistently hit the mid range jumper like we know he can... he needs to focus on that a bit more. He's highly efficient.

I agree either one would be awesome to have but right now I just want to see how Demar and Rudy can co-exist this season if not this is one trade situation which intrigues me.

Highly efficient?? Where'd you get that from? 48%FG and 60%FT is pretty poor for a guy who doesn't shoot jumpshots. I had him on my fantasy team last year.. I thought he was a guard half the time.

I like the kid too, but he's really overrated by this board. I'm sure he'll improve as he's only 21 but right now he's an inefficient 10-10-1 player, and you can find a few dozen of those in the L given enough minutes and usage.
