Can’t wait to see what our FO does with a top 10 pick after years of finding/developing gems late in the draft

If you believe the Giddey rumours I'd be very concerned about what Masai does with this pick.

He's got skills. He can create and could fit in well with our shooters who can't create for themselves that well. Makes sense. Don't think it would be a bad pick tbh

I haven’t watched him a ton but some of the draft experts criticisms of Jalen Johnson make me wonder how well he’d fit with our squad. His weaknesses seem a bit too similar to Siakam from what I’m gathering

Avoids and has a tough time finishing through contact, doesn’t have a lot of great go-to moves to create easy 1-on-1 buckets. Relies on scoring in transition. Good but not great shooter

His passing is intriguing but the more turnovers than assists thing isn’t ideal. That said, he seems like a fluid athlete with great size so there’s definitely a ton of potential there. Got some Jayson Tatum vibes at first glance of his highlights

I wouldn’t believe any rumors at this point. There’s so much posturing when it comes to the draft. These guys would never admit who they’re all in on this early in the process

If anything they’re just trying to get other teams to consider picking him so someone they really want falls to us. There are some really bad FO’s picking ahead of us and I pray at least 1-2 gets duped into making a mistake

Hes reminding me of Simmons

Yeah. I get Ben Simmons vibes from watching him as well. I feel like that's his best comparison tbh.

I think he's the 6'9 version of Aaron Gordon that could be a poor man's Michael Porter Jr.

Tbf, last year there were rumors Masai wanted to trade up and grab Lamelo, and look at how Lamelo turned out

Lots of us here, me included, dismissed the rumor because we thought no way Masai would need interested in that sure fire bust

Lol I'm not even trolling I think this Giddey kid just rose up my board just off this one rumor

Tatum with less handles and no stiff-arm.

If Giddey can be like a 6'8 Ricky Rubio then maybe. I mean I think they are scouting Giddey on whether or not he can defend well enough to start on the Raptors. If not, there's no use to draft them around 7 or 8.

If we added Giddey with the 1st and Aamir Simms with one of the 2nds, that would add a bunch of playmaking from non-point guard positions and would allow FVVsr to play more off the ball and to his strengths.
Even Scottie Barnes with the 1st but would overlap a little with Simms.

I'd look to trade Pascal to OKC this off-season for a bunch of their picks.

My dream draft would be Jalen Green, Nix and Todd

I'd blow it up and go fab 5 mode, It would sell in the nba. Just need 2 top 5 picks. win the lottery and trade Pascal for a top 5 pick.

Trade FVV for another 1st, trade Flynn for another 1st and Boucher and our 2nds for another 1st. Blow it up.

Cooper top 20
Green(top 5)
Ziare Williams top 20
Kai Jones top 25
Mobley top 5

This is nothing more than due diligence. The Raps scouts will get linked to multiple prospects because they should be checking out everyone.

Jaden Springer and Bradley Beal are eerily similar from measurement and statistical POV based on their college year (year drafted):

Draft age: Beal 18.4 | Springer 18.8
Weight: Beal 207 | Springer 205
Size: Beal 6'3 ; 6'7 wingspan | Springer 6'4" ; 6'6"
TS%: Beal .575 | Springer .570
FTr: Beal .440 | Springer .441
STL%: Beal 2.5 | Springer 2.7
BLK%: Beal 2.6 | Springer 2
TRB%: Beal 12.3 | Springer 7.8
BPM: Beal 8.4 | 6.9
AST%: Beal 12.7 | Springer 24.1

From a size, weight perspective they are very similar being smooth guards who have outlier strength for their size. All the advance numbers pretty much line up except for the rebounding which Beal is like a SF, while Springer passes the ball more and that is more based on their roles in college. Beal was a scoring guard while Springer facilitates at PG.

Spoiler:
Beal was built like a tank in college:

Springer looks like a similar athlete but not quite Beal's size and misses some of the shot separation:

2020 Off-season, we lost our big men- (C/PF) - (Serge Ibaka & M. Gasol)

Bottom line: no one should be surprised that this team is with a losing record.

we need to fill both positions, we will be fine...NBA lottery

I expect the Raptors to be playoff picture next season.

I always prefer to draft a forward, but keep in mind that we will lose Lowry (or Trent/Powell).
Although we drafted Flynn and Harris, but they are no way to replace Lowry as our 1st option.

FVV already puts up the points and assists with less turnovers and steals the balls instead of Lowry's charges.

I suppose you are here long enough to know the advanced stats.
They are rather similar, but Lowry has a slight edge.
Lowry 59.3% TS vs VanVleet 53.4% TS
Lowry 31.8% Assist% vs VanVleet 26.6% Assist%
Lowry 21.4% Usage vs VanVleet 23.9% Usage

Out side of OBPM VanVleet 2.3 > Lowry 1.9, others are Lowry are better.

I believe the biggest reason is his ability to draw fouls. Usually guards are the point of attack, and give you 20ppg, which we will need. Someone like Keon Johnson, Davion Mitchell, etc. would be considered to be drafted outside of SF/PF or PF/C.

There's no rumour or leak here at all. The Raptors scouts have been identified by Australian basketball writers attending his games. This happens every year.

I think Giddey is interesting. Teams know big playmakers are doing work in the NBA, and the things you can't take away from him are 1. he's 6'8" and 2. he's creating off the dribble as a PG against pros.

The knocks on him are a mixed bag, 31% 3pt as an 18 year old shows he probably won't be a non shooter, but he was only 69% from the FT line. Defensively doesn't have a plus wingspan and may not be able to stay in front of NBA players, but he did grab 1.2 steals and 7 rebounds in 40-minute NBL games.

Anyway, sending a scout to Australia doesn't mean we're that high on him, but he's worth due diligence and I wouldn't rage at the pick.
