It's a penalty against you if you're wrong. However, Oilers weren't afraid of Panthers power play which made decision easier.

I don't like the penalty for unsuccessful challenge rule.

But yeah the Oilers pk has been really good I heard that stat last night

I love it and think the NBA should implement a similar concept. If a challenge fails then 2 free throws and possession.

I hate this current era where every player thinks every foul should be reviewed. If the stakes were higher you probably wouldn’t see it as much.

A 2 minute penalty in hockey is a much heavier deterrent than even two free throws and possession. It's pretty heavy handed.

They have to make it where the penalized player stays in the box for the full 2 minutes, regardless.

How packed do you guys think the sports bars are gonna be?

All stars in Vaughan?

Probably insane.

I remember there was a lineup to get in for the pacman-mayweather fight.

I actually wonder how much of a difference it is.

2 free throws and possession must have an expected value of about 4.0 points (1.60ish for the free throws, 1.0ish for the extra possession you get, 1.0ish for the possession opposition loses)

A 2-minute penalty is about 0.20 goals against (average PP is about 20%).

So I really don't know if it much heavier handed. You still kill off like 80% of your penalty kills.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Raps winning it for Canada in 2018-19. Oilers winning it for Canada in 2023-24. Gotta love it.

I hope McDavid goes insane and gets 5+ points tonight. He needs it to match or beat Gretzky's and/or Lemieux's playoffs points record, no?

I think so. I think he is at 43 points? Someone fact check.

I'm a layman, so a vast majority of scoring in hockey looks like shooting the puck in the vicinity of the goalie and hoping for a bounce/deflection/rebound. I'm almost surprised when a power play doesn't result in a goal.

And now Oilers just tied it up with a real goal.

So in hockey, you are allowed just to lie down in front of the net?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Yes.

The goalie, I understand but the other players being able to do that seems kind of dumb to me. But obviously I don’t follow hockey.

Tough loss, whistles were swallowed. The Canadian drought continues.

I will always deeply appreciate the Raps getting it done because being a sports fan is not a pleasant experience 90+% of the time. I feel for Oilers fans.

I was thinking the same thing. Being a neutral is such an easy time. Playoff anxiety when you're invested is almost unbearable.

Doesn't happen as often in regular season but in the playoffs and especially tonight in game 7 of the final, gotta believe players would do all they could to keep the puck out.

Sucks for the Oilers. Really wanted them, mainly Conner, to pull this off. The gap between him and the next best player in his sport is the greatest and yet no one knows about it cause Hockey and it's players suck at marketing.

Oilers continuing the long tradition of Canadian hockey teams being a huge disappointment.
