Funny how silent it’s been about him this year. People tried bringing up his limitations last year but some just refused to believe it. They thought he would become a deadly shooter, a mobile, switchable big and a future all-star.![]()
That’s not to say he can’t get better but there are some things that will be difficult for him to improve upon. Still a useful, situational big though.
Again, you’re making up things or taking the most extreme statements and making it seem like it was the consensus.
He’s a 2nd year player averaging 9/8 coming off the bench while making less than $3M a year. Poeltl is averaging 10/8 as a starter making $20M per year for the next 4 years.
No matter how much you want to distort reality or lie, we are objectively as a franchise in a much better place if we selected Kesseler and didn’t trade for Poeltl.
It was true at the moment and it’s undeniably true now. I know it hurts to accept that but you’ll be okay.
I don’t care about the Poeltl trade. I was critical of that trade when it was made.
Kessler was talked about last year as an impact player with loads of upside. He can’t even start for a rebuilding team. That rebuilding team went out and got John Collins.![]()
The point is, Kessler is a limited and flawed big man. Missing out on him isn’t significant and as I said before, we may not like it but the salary cap exists and every decision a team makes always has the salary cap in mind. So no, you are not looking at things objectively because you’re ignoring an incredibly important detail.
Would our franchise be in a better position if we selected Kesseler and didn’t trade for Poeltl. Yes or no.
