His instincts do seem a lot better than I've originally given him credit for. That's the one thing that I didn't like about Thanasis, doesn't really possess good instincts. Bruno is very raw but I can see the foundation for a floor game whereas with Thanasis I just loved him because of his defense and quick first step.

And his handles are pretty decent too. They're not great, but he has a good combination of footwork/handles when driving to the rim.

In the video he's trying to be a lot like a playmaker. As Thespianoid has said the idea is good, but the execution is what's lacking.

Now I can definitely see the Batum comparisons. And to think this is him at 16.

thanks for going through the effort to pick out footage where Bruno was involved.

man you told one very important thing: "But the instincts are there.", instincts is the word, the guy have the tools to be a great player, Raptors have the tools to teach him? let's wait to see.

I think being surrounded by players like Derozan, Ross, Val, Amir who are all hard workers will do wonders for this kid.

Taken from this full game.

Agreed on the move at 2:43. Decent quickness and footwork to attack closeouts.

He also shows good vision and unselfishness at various points in this video:

0:42, a drive off a curl and finds the open 3PT shooter on the opposite wing.

1:16, finds the shooter on the wing after a few dribbles. Also good is that he immediately goes to crash the boards. Ends up getting the board and the putback.

1:51, on the fastbreak, makes the forward pass to the open man ahead of him and closer to the basket.

2:14, drives past his (smaller) man and attempts to make a pass to a big under the rim. Good idea, poor execution. But the instincts are there.

3:33, passes to the open man in the corner after his defender sags off too much. This is created by stupid defense by the defender, but this shows that he can see the floor.

3:40, 3:51, 4:02 are the same, attempts to drive and dish to the open man. Execution lacking but the idea is there.

Not really a fan of how he often prefers to go for the finesse finish, but maybe that's due to strength. He's gotta go up strong off those offensive rebounds.

this need to be on this page. The word. Instincts. Now Raptors need to improve his execution. Teach him the correct.

I do not like the pick. I am not sold on this dude, brazilian KD? I don't remember KD being this raw out of college. Maybe he'll have a great NBA career down the line but I see no immediate impact for a few years.

Would he have been 16 or 17? Because he turns 19 in September 2014, meaning he turned 18 in September 2013, and 17 in September 2012. The video says in 2013, so does the original where the highlights are from. Meaning he must have been 17.

It's not a huge deal though. Just semantics really

Can we stop using that fkin name for the guy just cause Fran Frischilla of all people decided to randomly throw it out? It's so unfair to the kid.

He can drive in straight lines to the basket, but have yet to see any change of direction move to show his handles. Protects the ball well by keeping low which is good given his high center of gravity.

I don't see what this has to do with the Heat but thanks. Good luck with Bruno.

Thanks for posting the video.

BTW you should change the title because he couldn't have been 16 years old in 2013 if he's turning 19 later this year.

I have a feeling that if Bruno was well scouted he could of got picked higher but nobody really knew about him. Exum's a bigger name because he shares the same agent as kobe and his father was an NBA player. Nobody really know's if Exum is really legit since he been hiding for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if we look back someday and Bruno ends up being a better prospect then Exum.

Exactly what I said

Gianni's was picked 15th and now people are saying if they redid the draft he would go #1

What has Dante Exum done that makes him a better prospect than Bruno?

This video shows off his ball handling skills a little more.

He's raw, but you can see there is a lot to work with. Quick, decent footwork, decent shot, decent handles to go with all that length & athleticism. At 18 years old? Looks like a good pick to me.

The Raptors really do need their own D-League team & the league needs to develop the league into a legit farm system. A player like this would benefit massively from being in a proper NBA development system for a full season.

The fact he's only been playing basketball since he was 14 is an aspect of the puzzle we can't lose sight of. It was one of the selling points for Embiid as well. The hope is that these types are years behind more polished players whove played ball longer, been to more clinics, and practiced more. But... that they will catch up and eventually surpass because of the things they have that can't be taught. That's always the hope anyway.

Kind of interesting that Giannis and Bruno have the same agent.

"Same agent" is a weird aspect of a player comparison, like a last resort when you can't think of anything else.

How does Andrea Bargnani compare to Kevin Durant?

Less polished but similarities for sure. Same agent. (Leon Rose)

I don't think that was the main thing he had in mind. More of an aside or fun fact, hence the second sentence. Twitter's character restrictions may have cut short more of what he was trying to say.

Yeah that was just a throwaway fact by Fran. Answering twitter questions is a waste of time. Half the characters are spent quoting the person. This mystery agent sounds like the Ujiri of the agent world. He finds obscure talent in remote parts of the basketball world in the hopes they hit it big so he can attract bigger clients.
